Dr. Kenneth Daniel Farr, MD

I recently had Cataract surgery with Dr Farr and elected to do the Symfony lens. I have been in glasses all my life prior to surgery and now I do not wear them at all!!!!! I am amazed how this has changed my life. I can wake up and open my eyes and see everything where prior to this I was searching for my glasses with my hand and vision was just a blur. I wish I could have done this surgery 50 years ago!!!!! There was an additional cost but it was well worth it!!!! I only have two eyes I wanted the best!!! I would not trade my vision for anything!!!

Dr. Farr is by far the most thorough and really wants his patients to have the BEST options. He offers many surgery options to improve vision and makes sure you are completely happy afterwards.He helped me pick an option that worked for me and my budget. He also takes the time to explain everything before he leaves the room, and if you still have questions he’s happy to come back in or one of his techs explains it to the best of their ability. I will definitely be back.

Dr Farr is a great dr, a little busy, but I'd rather go somewhere in high demand than a business that's empty. All is employees are very knowledgeable and explain things clearly

Although this site should not hold any barring on your decisions since patients are not verified. From what I know from my time with this doctor is that he stands way above the rest. He listens to your actual daily life needs and does all testing needed to make informed decisions. Why would you ever go to another doctor that does not utilize advanced technology? If your eye surgeon doesn’t understand refractive surgery or is not skilled enough to do Total vision correction then run!!!! Dr Farr chooses to give his patients the option of total vision correction because he can because he is so skilled. Yes insurance pays for some things but if you want to have vision like you never had before or you want to not be annoyed with glasses or contacts then only the hands of a skilled surgeon offering Total vision correction can give you this. Pretty sure these other reviews on here came from a non patient. If you want to here real truth just call him and ask to speak to one of his patients on… their experience. I for one have only seen perfection and true kind caring from his staff and him. No medical office is perfect every day but they go way above and beyond!!!

Medicare will pay for standard cataract surgery. Dr. Farr pushes the laser procedure along with a multi-focal lens which Medicare will not cover. This will come at a cost to you that is thousands of dollars over standard medicare coverage. The standard mono-focal lens (which medicare does cover the cost) will provide excellent distance vision. I elected to have the mono-focal lens done by traditional surgery, not the laser. My results were excellent but Dr. Farr did not do my procedure. I can read most things fine without glasses but i do use a 1.50 set of over the counter glasses for fine print. I was not comfortable with the extra charges pushed by Dr. Farr. There are a lot of reported issues with the multi-focal lens. You may experience more visual problems, such as glare or haloes (rings around lights), compared with people who have mono-focal lenses. Do your homework before you decide. Don't let any doctor push you into something you don't really need.

At present on spot. Informs you there is a 300 dollar charge before he will operate so if you can't pay you start all over with another doctor.

Office Staff: Hadn't been here before. Made an appt with office staff person 1 specifically for contact lens exam in Hilton Head office, 1 mile from my home. Couple of days later person 2 from office staff calls me back and says person 1 (I keeps notes with all names, but I'm not posting names online) wrongly made the appt with Dr F, who doesn't do contact lens exams. So person 2 asked me to reschedule with the contact lens examiner. I rescheduled for the day and time person 2 suggested. On the new appointment day I went to HH for the contact lens exam. They informed me that the rescheduled appointment was in Okatie, 15 miles from my home, But person 2 hadn't bothered to tell me that the rescheduled, because of their first error, was at a different location. After much discussion (I was furious because took time off work and ) they finally agreed that they would do the contact lens exam at the HH office. People who did the exams were good. No complaints about them. But then the… ophthalmologist Dr F came in to write the contact prescription. Dr F/Ophthalmologist: Instead of writing the contact lens prescription I came in for, he told me that I the better option was to get cataract and Symfony Intraocular lens implants since cataracts were starting. I'd never heard of this so I asked the normal questions about risks, benefits, cost. He informed me insurance won't cover it. It's totally out of pocket. But he wouldn't give me a price. I told him I wanted my contact lens prescription, which he finally gave me. As I was leaving he said since he was going to do surgery on me (which I hadn't agreed to or expressed interest in) I need to schedule an appointment to evaluate "dry eyes." When I asked the office staff about procedures to be done at a "dry eye" eval, I was told there was no way to know until I came in. Would insurance cover it? Nope. How much would it cost? They wouldn't tell me. Hundreds of dollars? Thousands of dollars. Wouldn't even give me a price range. I told them I was uncomfortable leaving it open ended so I couldn't make such an appointment. Day or so later a woman from the office staff called and said Dr F wanted me to have prices for the Symfony Intraocular lens implants (that I didn't ask for or want)--around $6500 per eye! $13,000 total. Again, out of pocket. I said flatly and emphatically that there was no way I'd ever do that, nope nope nope. And that in fact after researching it a bit I was uncomfortable with that particular surgery and reported side effects, and the fact that Dr F had never discussed alternatives with me (such as Multifocal IOL). I said no multiple times. She then proceeded to try to talk me into having the unwanted surgery I told her I'd never get using their financing, on a payment plan. I felt hugely pressured to have the surgery I had already declined multiple times. At that point I was disgusted and told her if felt like his priority was to make money, while my priority was to have affordable eye care. And goodbye. Bottom line that's what I still believe. I got my contact lenses. Never going back. I'll find another doctor next time even if I have to drive further.

Waited 1 1/2 months for an appointment with Dr. Farr due to a severe eye problem. Dr. Farr cancelled, then offered to schedule an appointment in yet another month (2 1/2 months total wait). When I made my initial appointment I offered to accept any time that was free as the result of a cancellation. Yet, as a new patient I could not get any reasonable appointment. The office did nothing to help with the scheduling. All-in-all, the worst experience I have ever had getting in to see an MD.

He did a great job on my cataract surgery. Very pleasant staff also.e

This doctor is only it in for the money. He can care less about his patients. His office claims that there is a 90 Day warranty on surgery that he performs that he NEVER advises of. I have a better warranty on my washing machine. He leads you to believe that he cares but after the check clears he doesn't know your name . Any mis-communication is the patents fault or- never his or his staff. It becomes your responsibility to ask him the right questions not his responsibility as a doctor to offer the right answers. Wish I never had this procedure done because I now have mono vision and need to wear glasses more now than I did before the procedure. I DO NOT RECOMMEND HIM!
