I went to this practice due to the wealth of positive comments found online in regards to this practice. However, my experience left much to be desired. The reason for seeking out a doctor was because I was having problems with weight loss that I was unable to resolve alone. My family has a history of thyroid problems so I decided to start there. I had already seen a nutritionist that gave my husband and I an exact diet to follow due to his terminal illness of end stage liver disease. I work out twice a day walking a minimum of five miles a day six days a week and drink a gallon of water a day. All foods are fresh or frozen and homemade, nothing out of a box. Low salts, low fat, low calorie, green tea and maybe one diet soda a week. We eat out once a month. I have tried every recommendation that has come my way in regards to diet and work outs with no results. There were other problems like chronic constipation, always tired regardless of 8 hours of sleep a night, always cold, dry skin… and hair loss along with some consistent pain. I was at the end of my rope feeling hopeless and frustrated and looking for help with a problem that I could not fix on my own. At my first visit I was weighed and my blood pressure was checked. I was asked a series of questions and it was recommended that I get a physical at my next visit. I explained that my OBGYN takes care of all breast exams, pap smears, mammograms and other female problems so that did not need to be included in the physical. All exams were up to date and an appointment with my OBGYN had been scheduled. I explained my concerns and what prompted my visit and his reply was to prescribe blood pressure medication and tell me I was obese. I was scheduled for lab work and a follow up visit. I completed the lab work and returned for my second visit with the impression that my concerns were going to be addressed. At my second visit I was asked another series of questions then told to undress from the waist up. I immediately asked why and was told by the nurse that the doctor does that with all of his patients as she closed the door and left the room. I did what was instructed assuming it has something to do with the lab results and hoping I was going to finally have answers. When the doctor came in he proceeded to give me a manual breast exam even though I told them repeatedly that my OBGYN takes care of them and they were up to date. Once complete he informed me that all my labs came back in the normal range except my blood pressure so he was increasing the dosage on the medication. He repeatedly asked about depression and anxiety, almost trying to convince me that I was depressed to which I explained I wasnâ??t even close and considering my situation I was doing great. Overall Iâ??m a pretty positive person taking one day at a time and enjoying all life has to offer in the fullest. My husband and I learned this after he was diagnosed with a terminal illness, never take life for granted and find the small blessings in every day. The answer to being tired was to get in touch with the sleep center Iâ??d previously seen and be fitted for a c-pap machine. The answer to the constipation was to take bulk twice a day even though Iâ??d explained that it doesnâ??t work. There were no answers for being cold all the time or the pain Iâ??m experiencing and I was given a prescription to bring my tetanus shot up to date. After laughing at my concerns and frustrations in regards to weight loss he told me to join weight watchers with the comment that he knows I think I eat right but I donâ??t. In the end, I had answers to questions I did not ask, was laughed at and told I was obese and to join weight watchers, I received a breast exam that should not have been completed and left feeling humiliated and defeated. I would not recommend this practice to anyone. I have never left a doctorâ??s office feeling the way I felt that day. I was under the impression that doctors are there to help and be compassionate not laugh at their patients telling them they are obese.
