Dr. Kenneth R. Pendergrast, MD

Dr. Pendegrast showed up at 4:00 PM on Memorial day to say I was being discharged. My BCBS case manager said the approval to go to physical rehab would take til Tuesday possibly. My husband worked 7-7PM on Memorial Day and told them a week ahead, that he's off Fri, Sat and Sunday and had to work the long schedule on Monday. Dr. Pendegrast had not seen me at all while I was in the hospital. I asked if I could stay one more night as my husband works 3-11 on that Tuesday. He said with anger no you can't stay another night, hospital stays are expensive. NOTE: My insurance did not say I had to be released or that they wouldn't pay. He was the rudest doctor I've ever dealt with and I never did even try to yell or get that way with him, but the staff was arguing with him in disagreement and one of the doctors that saw me multiple times a day was telling him things that still needed to be done. HE DID NOT CARE. So I went home and fell and almost did a faceplant on my tile… going in the first step of my house. My husband caught me when my face was like 4 inches from the tile. You see another doctor asked me to get outside my room and walk. I had a friend 20 doors down that was in the hospital. NOTE: The hospital is flat, no steps, no high beds. I could walk fine to my friends room with a walker and then sit for a while and then walk back. I got home and had the fall I've already mentioned and then I have a tall bed and was hard to get in/out. So one morning, I fell getting up. My husband had to pull my dead weight up. I fixed that by putting a foot stool on the floor and I can hold onto the bed while stepping up. I will never allow this doctor to take care of me again unless I'm unconscious.

Dr. Pendergrast has been taking care of me for the past 18 years. He is an excellent physician and I drive an hour both ways to see him. He is kind and caring and has never failed to help me, properly diagnose me, and listen to me. I would recommend him to anyone. I was blessed the day I was referred to him. Period.

I was his patient..lost my insurance and had to go to the free clinic. Once I got medical insurance I tried to go back to Dr.Pendergrasts office. I needed medicine that I had to have! In order to live! I explained all this to his nurse TINA..she was incredibly rude and said they had terminated me as a patient and they would not see me again even though I explained why I couldn't come for awhile! I have to have this medicine! I do not have a thyroid and I'm almost out. This is what this world is coming to. I hope Dr. Pendergrast and especially his witch of a nurse Tina can live with themselves. They are suppose to be helping people not being greedy about money just because someone doesn't have insurance and has to go to the free clinic for awhile! You both should be ashamed!! You have proved to me exactly what your medical ethics are! MONEY not HEALTHCARE or compassion and understanding for fellow human beings. People BEWARE!!

Very poor doctor. Lets ego get in the way when dealing with other doctors. Sent me to Roanoke Lewis Gale for procedure but the doctors there said that according to my basic blood work from Pendergrast they couldn't perfomr procedure and they were upset Pendergrast even sent me up there only to have to be taken back home. Go back to school if can't even read basic blood work and liver values.
