Dr. Kenneth William Roach, MD

Dr. Roach is fine for regular exams. But I was diagnosed with myasthenia gravis and he tried to force me into prisms. I have double vision which to variable degrees. Prisms only work on double vision that is constantly the same. Mine is not, and he knew that. Prisms also have bubbles that form between them and the glass of your glasses, they only aggravated the other eye problems I have. He also put in my records that I was difficult and belligerent, because I “would not” (I actually could not) wear the prisms. All they did would make my vision. Dr. Roach knows jack squat about myasthenia. I only gave him two stars because he is ok for regular exams. If you have MG, save yourself the trouble and go straight to Dr. Gospe at Duke. Good man.

Before I had my eyes examined, I told the front desk person that I will need a prescription for my eyeglasses. She told me that the office charges $80+ for this. This is against a Federal law called the FTC Opthalmic Practice Rules—the Eyeglass Rule. What is most disturbing is to see elderly people receiving services here and more than likely they are not aware of this law. Without $80+ dollars this can mean the difference for affording necessary medication, food, utility bills etc.

Bad experience with Dr. Roach. After eye surgery I have a hard to describe "schmeery vasaline line windshied wiper effect" when I look left to right. He sent me to get another opinion at Duke. This "expert" at Duke sent me to her assistant who gave me another eye test .... when I finally sat down with her she said, and I quote "are you and astronaut? are you a pilot?" I said .. No. She said "well they have very sensitive eye sight". I see nothing wrong with your eyes. .... WHAT!

He is very thorough and takes pleanty of time with each patient. I have found that the front office help is courteous and helpful.

Very Very rude staff in front office. I will Not see the Doctors because the lady up front rude!

Dr. Roach was so thorough and explained all possible diagnoses and treatments. It was great to leave with an actual understanding of what might be going on. He also did not seem in any hurry, and was doen to earth and easy to connect with. I will always use him!

Dr. Roach performed cataract surgery on my eye which was complicated by the fact that I had previously had lasik surgery. He has always taken the time to explain all procedures in detail and to answer my many questions. I have found his staff to be courteous, professional and helpful also.

In my opinion, the best in this field, and in treating glaucoma.
