One of the best surgeons around! Every one of his patient's in the waiting room had nothing but wonderful things to say from their experience. Kind of sucks that one scorned person whom is not a patient is leaving such hateful reviews.

HE ALSO DID AN UNAUTHORIZED SURGERY, NOT WHAT SHE HAD AGREED TO HAVE DONE FOR $10 GRAND UP FRONT, PLUS I'M SURE HE CHARGED HER INSURANCE AS WELL. HER RECALLED BREAST IMPLANT BURST AND LEAKED SILICONE INTO HER WHOLE BODY WHICH IS TOXIC AND SHE HAS NOW DEVELOPED SILICONE TOXICITY DISEASE. SHE LOST BOTH OF HER BREASTS CAUSING PERMANENT DISFIGUREMENT AND THE LOSS OF BOTH NIPPLES ALONG WITH SILICONE TOXICITY DISEASE FROM THE BURST, DOW RECALLED IMPLANT, AND HAS BEEN IN AND OUT OF THE HOSPITAL FOR BLOOD CLOTS RESULTING FROM THIS OPERATIONS FAILURE. I am seeing Dr. Shestak for a breast reduction and am so pleased with my experience. During the first two weeks post-op, he would call and check in on how things were doing. He is very nice and obviously knows what he is doing. During my first appointment, he told me he has done over 2,000 Breast reductions and let me tell you - it shows. I expected my breasts to look terrifying after surgery and my incisions were so clean and looked great. I was a little nervous before surgery, but he was so confident in what he was doing I felt almost instant relief. He always has med students with him so he is very good at breaking down what he's doing. As far as office wait goes, I mean, it happens. After waiting in the waiting room for over a half hour, I was taken back to an examination room where I waited for another half hour.. BUT Dr. Shestak was respectful enough to come in, introduce himself, and apologize for the wait time. He explained that the previous day was a surgery day and he had a… few patients come in and he had to put them first, which is totally understandable. I would hope he would prioritize me if I was the patient a day out of surgery. The fact that he came in and apologized showed me that he truly cares about his patients. I've waited in offices way longer than a half hour and the doctors didn't even care. Overall, Dr. Shestak is awesome and I would definitely recommend him to anyone interested in getting something done. Almost forget his pa! She's awesome as well.

I had a tummy tuck back in 1996. Dr.Shestak was rude(my friend who accompanied me thought so too). I have never been happy with my results. I have excess material in the front of slacks(my husband says I look like I have "male Parts." Not impressed. I wish I had my old stomach back-My clothing looked much better then.

i saw dr shestak 7/15/2013..that is after waiting for two and one half hours after my appt time...what dr. with any manners would keep a patient waiting that long especially when there were only two other patients in the waiting room and one was in and out in ten minutes!!!I had been operated on by him previously three times, when i had private insurance, in the past, and treated very differently....hmmmm? He ordered a breast mri three weeks prior to my appointment from the er and when i asked about the results he said what mri/ very attentive to me as a patient, I was a smoker when he did my other past surgeries and now informs me he doesn't operate on smokers anymore so if any of you breast cancer patient smoke, forget about him..he picky now that his whole career doesn't depend on us anymore..but maybe if you have really good insurance, he'll think about it..i am now on medicare for a disability so i'm sure that mattered also. Shame on you Dr. Shestak for the way you treated… me,I used to admire and speak highly of you...no more, you are not even a nice man , just a very narcissistic surgeon who once cared about people. I will never come thru your door again

I was in Magee after my hysterectomy and was talking with the nurse's aid while she was emptying my catheter bag (hey, we might as well talk about something to make the situation a little less awkward!). Both of us had had weight loss surgery and were discussing reconstructive surgeries and she told me "I'd go to Shestak if I was only having my breasts done." Well, since I was only able to afford having my breasts fixed at the time, I figured that a visit to Dr. Shestak was in order. I called around and made other appointments with other surgeons in the area for consults, but I was happy enough after my meeting with Dr. Shestak that I cancelled most of them. Cannot believe that this was a complaint from another poster, but the waiting room is just that - a waiting room. Nothing scary or horrible about it especially if you've had to spend time in other UPMC waiting rooms; this place was just fine and the staff was friendly too. There were a few issues with scheduling… appointments; twice, my follow up appointments that I made at the desk were not properly recorded in the computer and so I arrived at the scheduled time but with no appointment on record. There was a wait, but they made time to see me even though I wasn't on the roster for the day. Dr. Shestak has a staff of physician assistants that handled the preliminaries before he came in to see me. The PA that I worked with was fantastic and it was always nice to see and talk to her. He would also bring in other residents/fellows that he was training, so be forewarned that the examining room may be quite full when you talk to him. It felt a bit awkward having 5-6 people in a room staring at my breasts while he explained why he felt that certain procedures needed to be done given my breast shape, location, etc. He was, however, always professional and was really fantastic when it came to letting me ask as many questions as I wanted. The time he spends with his patients can account for the 30-40 minute waits I had, but I am totally willing to spend time in the waiting room if it means that he is willing to spend as much time with me as I need in the examining room. I had my breast augmentation/mastopexy done outpatient at Magee and the surgery itself was great. Followed up with his PA the next day and went back home to heal for several weeks. There were, however, minor complications that were not his fault; it turns out that I am allergic to the dissolvable stitches that he used. The stitches around my areolas got infected a month after my surgery and I rushed in to see him where he cut out as many of them as he could as the incisions were more or less healed except for right around where the knots were that just refused to dissolve. It took a few weeks for these spots to heal, but it wasn't a major inconvenience. Dr. Shestak was great and gave me antibiotics and medicated creams to deal with the pain related to these spots. The big complication came six months after surgery; out of nowhere, I got a huge infection right at the incision line at my one areola. Dr. Shestak had previously written a prescription for an antibiotic for me to refill if any of those spots acted up again, so I took 5 days of the antibiotic but the infection only continued to get worse. My only real complaint about his office was that the day that I was having severe pain with this obvious infection, my phone calls simply weren't being answered by the receptionist. Now, part of it was my fault (I had misplaced the number to his patient coordinator in the back which would've been a direct line to him), but the receptionist at the front desk could've just transferred my call rather than putting me on hold and never getting back to me. I ended up in Magee's ER after 3 hours of trying to get in touch with his office. At Magee, the ER doc took one look at my breast and ran. He called the chief plastics resident who then came to see me, took pictures of my breast, and texted them over to Dr. Shestak who was working at his clinic (my first sexting experience!). Dr. Shestak came right over in-between patients, saw what was going on, and pulled strings to get me his favorite radiologist who took ultrasounds of my breast to see how far the infection had spread and if the implant was compromised. The infection was localized right around one of the Gore tex stitches that had been used to shape my areola, so Dr. Shestak and the chief plastics resident operated on me right in the ER examining room (the curtained one with 6 beds if you're familiar with Magee). They removed the infected stitch, drained the pus, stitched me up, and sent me home with antibiotics. Without even checking my chart, Dr. Shestak remembered from 6 months earlier that I was allergic to the dissolvable stitches, which I was rather impressed by. He had his PA call me the next day to check in and prescribed anti-nausea and diflucan pills at my request because of the side effects of the antibiotics I had been given the day before. The other really nice thing was that I was billed via my health insurance for cellulitis and only the ER doctors were involved in the bill; Dr. Shestak spent several hours with me that day and never submitted any extra bill for his care. So even though I had complications, I highly recommend him and his team and would trust him with any other plastic surgery that I would have. Just make sure that you get the phone numbers that go directly to his PA and his office manager so that you can bypass the really busy receptionist.
