Horrible bed side manner misdiagnosed my Testicular cancer which he didnt catch after two years nearly cost me my life.

I seen Dr Simpkins, years ago, his misdiagnoses caused me to go through many rounds of chemo that could have been avoided if he had of put the time in to find the cause of my ailment, other doctors i saw afterwords agreed. He is very unprepared and you feel like you are rushed when he is in the room, his bedside manner is terrible as well/. I highly recommend you find another Urologist.

I read all the reviews before me and couldn't believe the low ratings and comments. I had none of those negative experiences. I did find Dr. Simpkins to be one who gives the facts and then expects you to ask for other information. He was very compassionate and efficient. When a man goes through prostate cancer and treatment, it affects his mate as well. Dr. Simpkins was very clear about our options, side effects, and life after treatment. Dr. Simpkins addressed all our questions and was extremely helpful. He was 100% about recovery time and effects of medications. We would recommend him to anyone. We are very fortunate to have a doctor like him in WNC.

I don't go to a Doctor to be nurtured. I go to be healed. Highly recommended by one of Asheville's most successful internists. Dr. Simkins is one of most the experienced users of the DaVinci robot in this part of the country. He accurately diagnosed my condition, monitored it, and at the right time operated. I experienced rapid recovery and only slight side effects. Perfect score in my book.

Dr. Simkins came highly recommended to us when my husband was recently diagnosed with prostate cancer. We chose him because he uses the DaVinci (robotic) laparoscopic procedure to remove the prostate, which is less invasive. After talking with Dr. Simkins about all the options, and going over the DaVinci method, my husband opted to have the procedure, and we were so thankful for Dr. Simkins' expertise. He is an excellent doctor. However, you will have to ask a lot of questions, because he is busy and not as forthcoming as I think he could be post-operatively. I think his office would benefit from handouts regarding post-op care and expectations. But we found his staff to be very organized and all of the people we encountered were efficient and pleasant.

Can't be bothered communicating with patients; does not read patients charts before seeing them; does not explain procedures; does not followup with patients concerning procedures; does not explain side effects of procedures; and does not explain results of procedures (leaves that to his nurse who is not qualified to handle these communications).

My visit with this doctor was very cold and impersonal. I went there looking for help with prostatitis, and he spent half of the visit trying to talk me out of the symptoms I've been experiencing. Then after urine and prostate samples coming back negative for bacteria, went on to presribe me the dangerous antibiotic Ciprofloxacin for a month to combat the bacteria that he couldn't find any evidence of! My uncle now has damaged tendons and colitis from the wonder drug that is Ciproflaxacin...NO THANKS! Very irresponsible for a doctor of this status if you ask me. I would not recommend this doctor to anyone.

When you are diagnosed witrh bladder cancer and a difficult operation is required to make you a new bladder out of your small intestine it's difficult to make the decision--who's good enough yo do the job. I picked Dr. Simpkins and I am thrilled that I did. He is an excellent surgeon and my experience was much easier than I expected.

I had to contact this physician when he was "on call" for the practice. Of course, the usual over the phone comments - let me know if your husband gets worse - well I would not have called on the weekend unless I felt strongly that he might be "worse". But the one that really got me was the comment, "Mam, I don't know what is wrong with your husband. Just call me if he gets worse." Well, I would certainly want to call him, wouldn't you? Would not send my worst enemy to see this group of physicians.
