Dr. Kent A. Karren, MD

I had gone to this doctor many years ago. We scheduled an appointment for my mother and another a week later for myself. MY 86 year old mother was in tears when we left his office. She had a stroke a year ago and he was incredibly insensitive, abrupt and downright rude treating her. I went back for my appointment angry and intended to mention the incident at the end of my appointment. I never did as he was very abrupt and rude with me, too. I would NEVER suggest anyone go to see this doctor. He needs to retire.

His office charged me for a refraction they never completed. When I asked for a refund they said they would refund, but they never did, I had to contact my bank. Dr. Karren did an eye check, I left with no idea what the health of my eyes were, the reason I went there in the first place. I am a senior and I don't like being treated this way.

I have had this happen to me 2 times. The first time I was in the office 4 hours. He has too many patients!

Dr. Karren didn't take time to explain the surgery to me but later claimed he did.  His staff tried not show their impatience with one more Medicare cataract patient but did not disguise it well.  I used my Medicare option for a second opinion and found a much better place to have the surgery and the second place was considerably less expensive so I was able to afford a more involved surgery than the basic one.  I've heard that Karren is a decent surgeon but I would NOT recommend him based on my unpleasant experience in his office.

Did not explain things. Did not listen well to my details of eye problems. Assistant did a poor job getting correct vision prescription.
