Dr. Kevin Dahmen, MD

Poor bed side manners with respect to the parent. Stated in the paperwork all medications must be approved by me the Parent and Dr. Dahmen gave my son medications without consent for a non emergency application. Refused to accept or listen to me the parent and what I saw going on in my sons day to day activities. Diagnosed my son with depression and moved on to the next kid. Dr. Dahmen also had open discussions with my 16 year old son about my financial business ultimately forcing me to have a discussion with a child about a subject t that is non of his business. Worst doctor I have ever encountered in my life, he should not be allowed to practice medicine in any state.

isn’t it illegal to force someone to take antipsychotic medications for acute anxiety, with blackmail of being put in placement if i didn’t do so? oh and it was nice to be locked in my room for 20+days for refusing to take the medication that you already knew were not in any way safe for me to take at my age. Oh! almost forgot, as a certified MHT now did you know it’s illegal to double/and triple dose patients without documentation of it(; As i recall he told me i will never go anywhere in life because of the way i look. Guess what doc? I’ll be taking you’re job sooner than you know it,but i won’t be poisonings innocent children

I had the worst experience ever with Dr. Kevin Dahmen. He should not be practicing as a doctor and in my opinion should not have a licence to practice. He was of no help and I actually felt worse as he did not want to hear about any problems but only to make myself feel crazy for asking for help. I would advise anyone to never take their child to see this physician because he obviously does not believe in helping children but to criticize parents. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS DOCTOR TO ANYONE AND SERIOUSLY NEEDS HIS LICENSE SUSPENDED! ALL HE DID WAS WASTE EVERYONE'S TIME THEN SEND ME A HUGE BILL!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HE IS HORRIBLE and very unprofessional.

Very unprofessional, misdiagnosed son, tried to push diag within first 5 min. Refused to let us be seen by any other dr in his practice. Basically threw a tantrum when I said I wanted 2nd opinion

Dr. Dahmen is incredibly biased and unprofessional. He declared that my 8-year-old son had major identity problems because he enjoys playing dress-up sometimes and isn't very masculine at his age. My son is just a little guy, so I keep him out of contact sports and instead put him in activities suited to his interests and abilities. He criticized me for this and threatened to call social services because he thought I was being psychologically abusive by not teaching my son to be tough. I wish I were exaggerating or joking about any of this. He's just an awful practitioner. It's sad that there aren't more options in our state.

I have taken my kid to him only because there were no other psychiatrists available here for children. He's very unprofessional, degrades parents, blames parents for their children's behavior, etc. Also, he's strange and difficult to understand. Wouldn't recommend him.

I previously rated this doctor based upon two prior encounters with him. Our last (third) visit was different. This time, Dr. Dahmen seemed to listen as I described our concerns. He tried to answer my questions, although not all of them were completely resolved. We are going back for a follow-up and I am very hopeful we'll have a good working relationship from here on out.

We've been referred to Dr. Dahmen by our child's medical doctor twice before, simply because there seems to be a shortage of child psychiatrists in the rural area we live in. Both times resulted in what can best be described as a brush-off with him downplaying our concerns and offering no useful techniques or advice. Now we are going back a third time (again, no child psychiatrists within 200 miles to oversee the antipsychotic medications our pediatrition perscribed) and it's hard not to have very low hopes for this visit. I hope I am compelled to return to this site to revoke my poor review.
