Dr. Kevin Joseph Hackett, MD

Dr Hackett had the worst bedside manner for my first pregnancy. He was dismissive and haughty at all my appointments with him. I unfortunately had him deliver my csec baby since he was on schedule that week. He ended up not getting to his csec patients until 7pm on Friday, for all his Monday surgeries. Nurses said they called and called and no one was picking up. He forgot to tell the nurse to remove my Staples and so she had to call 3x more to get approval. She was definitely exasperated with him. He told me I would most likely end up with ovarian cancer because I refused pill birth control. He also said I need to consider my age (I'm late 20s...) If I decide to have another baby because I'm "getting up there in years."

I went to Dr. Hackett to review a recent ultrasound and talk to him about scheduling a surgery to remove a persistent, painful ovarian cyst. From the moment he walked into the consult room, he seemed like he was annoyed that I was even there. He seemed more annoyed when I asked him about my endometriosis symptoms and whether surgery should be considered. He immediately dismissed my concerns, misreading the write-up of my ultrasound, saying that it states that my cyst is only 1cm in diameter and nothing to worry about. The write up ACTUALLY says that my cyst is nearly 6cm in diameter. When I pointed this out calmly, he came back at me saying- "And how many of these have you read?" I am 1000% convinced he had never even looked at the actual ultrasound images. I could go on and on about how demeaning he was and how dismissive he was about my pain but other reviews seem to have that covered. What I will say is- EVEN IF my cyst was "only 1cm" he did zero to address my concerning symptoms… and pain other than to offer hormone-suppressing medication to me and saying that I should have a baby while I still can. Please avoid this doctor. There is a difference between being a straight-forward person and outright rudeness and misogyny.

I also inquired whether I may have endometriosis. He immediately dismissed my concerns, saying that the write-up clearly states that my cyst is only 1cm in diameter and nothing to worry about. Here's the thing- the write up ACTUALLY says that my cyst is nearly 6cm in diameter, confirmed by my new doctor. He misread it. When I pointed this out calmly, he came back at me saying- "And how many of these have you read?" gesturing to the radiologist's write-up. Throughout the rest of the short-lived appointment, he kept saying things like, "and I stress, your cyst is ONLY 1cm" and "I'm not going to… put you under for a 1cm cyst." I am 1000% convinced he had never even looked at the actual ultrasound images or he would have known that was wrong. In the end, he offered me two options- do nothing and have another ultrasound done months from then OR choose from birth control pills or a hormonal suppressant to address possible endometriosis. Oh, he also implied that I could get pregnant, as pregnancy would help with the endo. So, yeah. I don't really think creating another human for the sake of pain management is really a good idea. I could go on and on about how demeaning he was and how dismissive he was about my pain but other reviews seem to have that covered. What I will say is- EVEN IF my cyst was "only 1cm" he did zero to address my concerning symptoms and pain other than to offer medication to me, one of which is now part of a class-action lawsuit (Lupron). Please avoid this doctor. There is a difference between being a straight-forward person and outright rudeness and misogyny. He is not straight-forward, he is just rude and arrogant.

My Grandmother was treated rudely she was having an exam and the Nurse was snickering. The doctor turned and said "she discusses me" I am beyond upset she was treated this way.

Dr. Hackett spent time answering any questions I had and asked if I had any other questions before leaving the room. For my first visit with him I thought he was very thorough. The office staff could not have been any nicer. I have no complaints.

I went to this so called dr after i delivered a baby at 24 weeks that had passed away. I was crying the entire time as talking about it was emotionally too much seeing as it had only just been a week, but the dr that delivered said to be seen asap by an obgyn and get back on track. This jack**s waltzed in, sat down, told me i had enough kids and i needed to be put on birth control for the remainer of my fertile years. Like he had some sort of say in how many kids i was allowed to have. I had questions and he just shot me down like i was some scuz ball off the street that kept having babies that werent in my care(i had 5 at home at the time without any kind of CPS ever being called) and told me that if i didnt agree to get on birth control he would make sure no obgyn would ever see me as a patient again in Columbus! I couldnt believe my ears, but i filled the script and took off instead of going back to have them give me the shot, i wasnt about to be man handled and belittled by this… jerk anymore. I ended up throwing the shot away, and writing a lengthy letter to the Columbus Dioces about this jerk, they dont take lightly to doctors telling patients when they can have kids and how many. Stay far away from this practice, the other doctors cant be any good if they allow this jerk to stay on and care for patient, he has no people skills at all!

Endometriosis is already not fun. My first visit, Dr. Hackett told me all birth control were the same. I never went back.

He bullied me for not accepting the flu vaccine while pregnant. I have never had a doctor talk down to me with the body language or tone before. FYI. the package insert on the flu vaccine states.... Safety and effectiveness has NOT been established in pregnant or breastfeeding women. Caution should be exercised when administering to pregnant or breastfeeding women. He mocked me for being a nurse and taking any advice from my peers...."I know how you people are(you nurses). He left gel on my abdomen after my ultrasound continued to berate me for the next 10 minutes and then walked out of the room. I hope to never see the man again. I am so glad I left that practice before finding out what my delivery experience might have been with him. He might be good at surgery but has very poor communication skills. Anyone hoping for a natural or low intervention focused delivery should reconsider being in a practice of which he is the senior physician.

I am shocked at these reviews, I am not sure I can justly express how professional and attentive Doctor Hackett has been with my care plan after performing my c-section. I always leave his office with the confidence of knowing I am getting the best care and a thorough explanation of my medical happenings. I would absolutely recommend him in the future.

Dr. Hackett's demeanor was dismissive, patronizing, and at times hostile. He mocked me and was sarcastic. I was shocked by the interaction and left crying and feeling very small.
