About Kevin Harris—My Journey into 3d Photography
Kevin Harris began his photographic career over thirty years ago in Chicago. As a teen living on the outer edge of the inner city, Kevin was drawn to document the vibrancy of the culture that surrounded him. In 1970, at the age of 16, Kevin sold a series of photographs of children from the inner city to a Michigan Avenue publishing firm. By the age of 18, Kevin Harris was one of the youngest commercial photographers with a Hubbard Street studio.
His commercial career was short lived. After two years, Kevin sold his studio, left Chicago to embark on a ten-year journey visiting over thirty countries around the world, including the Philippines where he would spend seven years raising pigs and attending school.
Eventually, Kevin returned to Chicago and received a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 1990 from Northwestern University and a Certificate in Orthodontics from the University of Illinois four years later.
With school now behind …him, and his Orthodontic practice well established, Kevin re-established his photographic career in the year 2000 with the production of large format close up floral photographs which were featured in the catalogs of Neiman Marcus and Horchow.
While maintaining a full time Orthodontic practice in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Kevin travels around the world photographing nature in 3D. Kevin Harris has recently photographed tulips in Holland, orchids in Peru, insects in Ecuador, and animals of the Galapagos Islands in 3D. He has had the unique opportunity to capture photos of a variety of flowers and plants of the rainforest, the blue morpho butterfly, the endangered poison dart frog, epiphytes of the rainforest, and the camouflage of nature.
