Dr. Kevin Kelaher has been caring for and helping patients achieve healthy teeth and gums and beautiful smiles for thirty-five years. He received his Doctorate of Dental Medicine from Tufts University Dental School in 1973. Practicing dentistry in Lynn, Massachusetts for almost 30 years he then relocating the office to Salem, Massachusetts.
His new high-tech, state-of-the-art dental office was designed to make his patients as comfortable as possible, while offering the most advanced treatment dentistry has to offer.
Digital x-rays reduce radiation exposure by up to 90%, intra-oral cameras allow his patients to see what he sees, the Diagnodent cavity detection laser allows him to diagnose cavities before they get to be a real problem, and patient education videos explain every procedure possible with easy to understand terms and diagrams. Although a family practice, Dr. Kelaher realizes that patients would prefer to have most, if not all of their dentistry performed in the same office, by the same staff.  He refers to it as “one-stop dentistry” and in addition to offering his patients services such as teeth cleaning, fillings, crowns, bridges, partial and full dentures, and Invisalign invisible braces, patients can also come to his office for root canal therapy and periodontal services such as scaling and root planning, gum surgery and implants.
Because of his background in teaching, Dr. Kelaher understands the importance of listening, caring and explaining to his patients everything that is going to happen before it happens. He also understands the importance of education and is always expanding his knowledge to stay on the cutting edge of dentistry. Dr. Kelaher is Invisalign, Cerec and Nitrous Oxide certified and has been selected as one of “America’s Top Dentists” by the Consumer Research Council of America. Dr. Kelaher is a member of the American Dental Association, the Massachusetts Dental Society and the North Shore District Dental Society.
On a personal note, Dr. Kelaher was born and raised in Massachusetts. He attended high school at St. John’s Preparatory School in Danvers where he played football, baseball and hockey. In his senior year, he received the Brother Benjamin Trophy for best athlete. Undergraduate study was done at Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine. The two years following graduation found Dr. Kelaher teaching basic sciences at a regional high school just outside of Augusta, Maine, where he also coached the football and cross country ski teams before making the decision to go to dental school.
When not treating patients, Dr. Kelaher enjoys spending time with his granddaughters, playing golf, traveling, gardening, and photography.
