Dr. Kia Michon Mitchell, MD

Dr. Mitchell has taken the time to read hospitalization records, surgery records and records from many specialist. Many of my issues are complex and required a lot of test and referrals in which she took the time to research.

I am not only a patient of Dr Mitchell but also a colleague. I had to give a break with my profession recently due to my mom becoming bed bound after an accident and my father being diagnosed with an illness that needed him to be hospitalized for several months (he has passed away about 2 weeks ago). They were living abroad and I had to resign my position twice (first for my mom and later to take care of my dad). I visited Dr Mitchell about 3 weeks ago for my very high blood pressure (which was under control with medication but got out of control secondary to all the stress I was experiencing lately). After a NP had examined me, Dr Mitchell came in together with the NP and asked if I was working but I caught her winking and showing me with her head to the NP who has seen me for the first time and has no idea of my recent work status. I realized that she had not only gossiped about me but now making fun that I am again coming up with an excuse not to work. What a shame for a doctor to… be unable to empathy and even worse to gossip and make fun of her patient and colleague who is in a desperate situation!

Will travel back to Florida to see her. Only doctor that earn my trust. I love her. Been seeing her for 4+ years.

Complete misinterpretation of American Heart Association guidelines regarding risk of cardiovascular disease. Did not read patient records and prescribed statins in a case when American Heart Association didn't not recommend them.
