Dr. Kim James Charney, MD

Dr. Charney was great but the front desk lady (Jolene) was extremely rude. While in the waiting room/lobby I could hear her talk to other patients on the phone and she was equally rude/short/mean to them, so it was not just me. Jolene made me feel unimportant and stupid; as if I was wasting her time. Her tone was short, demanding, and annoyed. She said she would call me within a week, after waiting 9 days, I had not heard from her so I called the office. She was completely aggravated at me for “wasting her time” by calling her and insisted she would call me “like I told you last week”. After waiting another week without receiving a call I gave up. I have had medical problems my entire life and work in the medical profession so I am always nice and courteous to the staff. Her tone was inexcusable and he should definitely get a new front-desk worker. He seemed like a good surgeon but I am seeking other options as I refuse to be spoken to in such a way by such a rude and incompetent… assistant.

First time seeing Dr Charney today for a gallbladder surgery consultation. The front office girl was very rude to me even when I tried to be courteous with her. I rushed from work to be at the appointment I had gotten lost him called for directions and she was very catty with me on the phone as if she's too busy to help me locate the building. I think Dr Charney could use a better front desk person because my husband had the same experience with her about a year ago. Aside from that I felt like Dr Charney's bedside manner was very good, however I did not feel like he did not addressed additional options besides obvious surgery since my situation is not that severe. For various reasons I've decided to get a second opinion.

Dr. Kim J Charney, MD is an excellent doctor and surgeon. He immediately put me at ease at my initial office visit. He explained in detail what was involved in the surgery. I felt very confident that I had chosen the right doctor and the results proved me to be 100% correct. His office assistant also conducted herself in a very professional way. She showed great patient when I lost some of my paperwork. I would not hesitate in the least to recommend Dr. Charney to anyone who might require his services.

Do not recommend. He was pompous and when I asked questions to get more information he got very short like I was questioning his knowledge. Look someplace else. You can find better.

I was referred to Dr. Charney by a mutual friend. My MRI had shown a mass on or near my gall bladder. My office visit and subsequent hospitalization at St. Joseph Hospital was completed like clockwork. Not one complaint. Dr. Charney is an outstanding surgeon.
