Dr. Kimberly Ju Kim, MD

I recently had a scheduled appointment for my son. This office failed to inform me prior to the appointment that the MD J Christopher Schuck would be conducting part of the physical outside the office. The receptionist lied and stated that she left us a message detailing that part of the visit would be done virtually outside the office. It was close to 90 degrees this day and when I attempted to access the building it was locked. I called the office as instructed from the notice on the window and no one picked up the phone. I then knocked on the window as the notice instructed if we got no answer on the phone and their receptionist came out and told me that my toddler and I had to wait outside until the doctor speaks with us. When I asked why she pointed at the notice which had no explanation of the process for the physicals and stated this is what I needed to do and continued to point to this notice as if I was illiterate as she spoke to me in a condescending tone. After 15 minutes of… waiting outside with a restless toddler I called the office and got her on the phone. She continued to state I could not enter the office without speaking to the MD even though she had already screened me for COVID. Now it’s 20 minutes after my scheduled time, my child and I were still waiting outside in 90 degree heat and finally the MD J Christopher Schuck called me on the phone. I told him how I was treated by the receptionist and the concerns with the lack of information provided, he did not seem to be concerned and quickly dismissed them by being defensive without listening to the concerns objectively. He proceeded to ask the questions about my child’s current medical status over the phone. The call abruptly dropped because I was on my cell phone and it had bad reception at their Windsor, CT location. I called back and spoke with the same receptionist and told her what happened and she did not seem to care and stated that my son and I had to reschedule our appointment because there was not enough time. I asked her to explain to Dr. Schuck that my called dropped and she returned to the phone and stated Dr. Schuck would not see me because we were out of time even though HE was 20 minutes behind schedule and physicals are typically one hour long and proceeded to reschedule my appointment. Then the receptionist who began acting like a “Karen” had the audacity to lie and say to me that I was banging on the window when I just knocked as instructed when I arrived at the office. I told her false accusations against a black woman could get me locked up and asked to speak with the owner of the practice which I was told were all the MD’s as this is a group private practice but the office manager handled the complaints. The office manager was not available for me to speak with her. Instead of Drs. J Christopher Schuck or Kimberly Kim contacting me to hear my concerns I received a letter in the mail signed by Dr. Kimberly Kim and Dr. J Christopher Schuck indicating they were discontinuing providing medical care to my children. This was after my appointment was rescheduled! They took the time to write a letter to notify me that they were discontinuing treating my children but refused to call me to hear my concerns. Again they did not care to call me to hear my concerns as a parent and just abruptly refused to medically treat innocent children instead of addressing the concerns about a racist receptionist and my experience at the practice they own! After 13 years of coming to this practice, this is how I was treated after raising an issue about their staff’s treatment towards me. My children and I were treated like a second class citizens and they did not care to lose our business. Pedicorp Drs. Kimberly Kim and J Christopher Schuck did not care to hear my concerns or try to improve my experience by addressing my concerns or addressing racist staff! Discontinuing medical care to 3 innocent children without explanation or contacting me to talk about my concerns is poor practice, unethical treatment of patients and I feel like my children or I did not matter to them and question if it’s because of my race they did not care to reach out to me or care to lose my children as their patients? Drs. Christopher Schuck and Kimberly Kim did not care about the wellbeing of my children in the end. They ignored my concerns and abandoned providing medical care to my children. They allowed a racist receptionist to treat my family and I like second class citizens and further perpetuated a negative experience by also ignoring my concerns discontinuing providing medical care to innocent children. They do not have the well-being of children at heart. I will NEVER EVER recommend this place to anyone and will share my horrible experience and treatment to others so they do not have to go through the same humiliating and harmful experience my children and I were subjected too!

As someone who has experienced birth trauma, I don't have a lot of trust for professionals and it takes a lot for a provider to earn my respect. Dr. Kim is my daughter's pediatrician and is absolutely wonderful. She is extremely thorough and discusses all findings with me. She is very kind, respectful of my role as a parent, supportive, and seems to always be in a great mood. I never feel rushed and I always feel like she genuinely cares for my daughter. It is obvious that she loves her job and wants to do it well and that she remembers what I've said in months past in regards to my daughter. She is willing to listen to my concerns, questions, and opinions as well as respect them. I've never left the office feeling unsatisfied, disrespected, or as though my question was not adequately answered. I went to the same office (though different provider) as a child and had good experiences with them as well. I could not possibly give a higher recommendation for a provider, Dr. Kim has my… trust and has proven herself to be a competent doctor.
