Dr. Kira Leith Vurlicer, MD

Very organized, thorough, understanding and kind. Accepting of all people, I never felt judged or demeaned. She is very caring.

Dr. Vurlicer is really nice and spends a lot of time with me, which I really appreciate. She does not rush through the appointment like some other doctors do. She really takes the time to explain everything and involves me in the treatment decision. I would definitely recommend her!

Dr V takes care of me, my husband, my two children and my mother. We all have been very happy with her care. We have found her to be very caring, thorough in explanations and good about answering questions. We did have a few concerns about the receptionists and I actually mentioned this to her at one of my visits. She listened to my concerns and the last time I came in, I saw that they had hired someone new at the reception area, so I felt like my concerns were listened to.After reading the other comments, I had to post something. I work at an eye doctor's office and we have people call all the time with unrealistic expectations. Asking a doctor to diagnose you over the phone is like asking your mechanic to tell you why your check engine light is on over the phone, and then not wanting to come in to get your car looked at! I have never found her rude or uncaring at all. She always lets us know test results within about 2 weeks, and calls us if there is anything serious. She… also takes care of patients in the hospital (like my mom). It is hard to find doctors these days that will do that, or even find someone who will tell you something over the phone instead of a standard machine message that says "go to the ER if this is an emergency." We have always been very happy with her care, and the nurses in her office. Like I said, the receptionists are not always the best but they seem to be working on this.

I was very dissatisfied with this Doctor and I will be reporting her to Johnston Health. She happened to be the on call doctor this weekend for Horizon. I was extremely concerned since I just received a flu shot on Friday and have been in bed ever since, running a fever, chills, achy all over, and a headache. Then I noticed my eye started to form a cyst of sorts on the white of my eye. This all seemed so strange and thought it may not be related to the flu shot, just a coincedence but was not sure of anything so wanted to call. I told this doctor about all my symptoms. She began addressing the eye saying it was most likely conjunctivitis and suggested I get an eye drop otc. I said, "well,forget about the eye what about my fever, chills, etc. She rudely stated, "well if your that concerned then go to the ER, I'm just trying to save you a trip". She also said, rudely that the flu shot does not cause the flu. I stated that I knew that and never said I thought I had the flu. … Most Doctors to protect themselves especially via the phone will make a suggestion but follow it up with something like, "just keep an eye on everything, if you do get worse and your fever spikes and/or your eye gets worse and you are having vision problems then you should consider being seen". Nope she didn't seem like she cared one single bit, she seemed put out, like I had interrupted her evening. She was sarcastic on the phone and rude.She kept saying, "well go see an eye doctor tomorrow, if your that concerned". She did state it's kind of hard to diagnose over the phone and I realize that but she did not have to make me feel like I was imagining things. I had to ask if it's common for people to feel sick after getting the flu shot and she said, just take some tylenol and you should be fine... I feel like, after I told her my symptoms, she could have made me feel like she cared even if she didn't, could have said, oh some people do tend to feel a little achy, chills, etc after the shot, you should improve and if not then I would suggest getting in to see your physician etc blahsay, blahsay.. Nope, she was not nice, in no way shape or form. I will not ever see her and I would not recommend her to anyone. She may be a good doctor, however for me I want someone who also has a good bed side manner, someone who is also kind and who will listen and make you feel like your concerns are valid even if they aren't..
