Dr. Konrad Wouter Bakker, MD

Exceptionally Rude and Ill-Tempered Staff make this doctor’s office particularly unbearable. I first was Referred to this office by a coworker who claimed to love going to see Sarah Jamieson, Bakker’s colleague. I couldn’t get a soon enough appointment with Jamieson, so I went with Bakker. My first impression with the staff of his office is that they are Rude, Not in anyway whatsoever concerned with your personal health or health concerns. They gave me an appointment more than Four Months into the future and said we will call you if anything sooner opens up. They never called me to offer any sooner appointments. Finally the appointment came and Dr: Bakker’s office looked run-down and disheveled. His staff at the office again notably Rude, Impatient, and Unwelcoming. Bakker’s office gave me Incorrect Sleep Lab Referral information to their preferred sleep lab service! I called and called and called leaving messages and no one would ever return your calls. After two weeks of no replies,… I contacted Bakker’s office for help. It took them severalWeeks at Bakker’s office for The doctor to return my call. Inexcusably Substandard Care and Concern in my humble opinion. Finally the sleep study was scheduled, more than a month later. I had a follow up appointment with Dr. Bakker another Month after the sleep study. Now it’s been another Two Months since the sleep study and I still do not have my Bipap/Cpap equipment. Bakker’s office (and his rude unhelpful staff) refer me to the DME supply Company, who then refers me right back to Dr. Bakker, claiming that his staff never sent them the proper paperwork! AVOID THIS OFFICE LIKE THE PLAGUE!

Dr Bakker and his whole Team are wonderful. 5 star service from 1st call. Highly recommend this office for your sleep needs.

I was referred to Dr. Bakker from another physician for sleep apnea management. I also happen to get migraine headaches, although at the time of my initial visits to Dr. Bakker, they were under control. Dr. Bakker did provide timely care for my sleep apnea, referring me for a new mask that would be more comfortable to wear. That being said, the majority of the time spent during our Telehealth visits were focused on the pharmaceutical management of my migraines, per his management of the discussion during the visit. He insisted on prescribing MULTIPLE prescriptions for me to "try". I was clear in communicating that my migraines were manageable and that I did not need all those prescriptions, which he said I could try in any order or combination that I preferred. I even asked if there were any contraindications to taking multiple medicines at once and he said no. I can't imagine that to be true. When I told him I was not interested in trying a bunch of medications at once, his… response was that he had already sent them in to my insurance company for pre-authorization, typing as I spoke. The next time I visiting my local pharmacy, the pharmacist came out to tell me that I had many prescriptions from a Dr. Bakker. I informed the pharmacist that I did not want these prescriptions. The pharmacist communicated that this was not the first time she had seen this situation from this doctor. I cancelled my next follow-up appointment with Dr. Bakker letting the receptionist know the reasons as I stated in this review. I received a certified letter a few days ago from Dr. Bakker stating that he "found it necessary to discontinue my care". The irony of receiving this letter after I already left the practice is not lost on me. Dr. Bakker was not unkind during our visits but clearly is motivated by the business side of dispensing pharmaceuticals with little regard of the patient's wishes.

I first saw Dr. Bakker in Rockville office for sleep study and was impressed by his straight to the point manner. He doesn't color code and things and I like the straight forward approach. I have been seeing him for quit sometime now. I have confidence in him.

Was calling to make an appointment as a new patient but receptionist was rude and had a real bad attitude, Nancy. She sounds like she does not like her job. Would not recommend.

I've been a patient of Dr. Bakker for ten years now and he came highly recommended by my old PCP in Frederick. I suffer from migraines and ice pick headaches and Dr. Bakker has been very involved in my care over the last ten years to ensure that I keep them under control, because they can be debilitating. When I moved from Federick to Northern Virginia, he and his staff graciously began seeing me in his Sleep Center office in Rockville, where they usually do NOT see migraine patients, so I don't have to drive as far for appointments, because I did not want to find another neuro. His office staff has always been welcoming to me, and I've never had an issue rescheduling appointments. Dr. Bakker is always on time for appointments as well, I think I've had to wait only one time. He is a very frank person; he will get to the point, so don't expect him to be flowery and sugarcoat things. If your condition is caused by weight, he's going to suggest weightloss. If it's sleep apnea,… he will make suggestions there as well. My husband saw him for snoring and Dr. Bakker determined he did NOT have sleep apnea; he just snores and needs a mouth guard which can be purchased at the pharmacy. I will be the day this man decides to retire and I have to find a new neurologist.

Was that a joke?...apparently not.

Dr. Bakker is an excellent doctor. However, I cannot recommend him because of his staff. If you have an issue it is very difficult to call his office and have a phone answered by a person. They want patients to communicate via a portal -- but in my experience messages sent via this portal are not responded to. As I write this review I have been trying unsuccessfully for three days to contact Dr. Bakker's office.

While Dr. Bakker, seems competent I found him a bit quirky, and he wants to tell you how you are feeling as opposed to listening to what I am saying. His staff are short on followup, I found I had to call the office repeated times to get something done. Basically i am going to give him one more chance and if not going back to my doctor to find another sleep disorder clinic.
