Dr. Kore Kai Liow, MD

My daughter has been a patient of Dr. Liow & HPN for 10 years. I worry about her living with epilepsy. It makes me feel relieved knowing she receives excellent care from doctors and staff that are kind and wonderful. I’m usually with her at every appointment and test. I’m greeted with big smiles and hugs. Hawaii Pacific Neuroscience cares for their patients and always make my daughter and I feel so comfortable. They are the best!

I was diagnosed with epilepsy in 2000. It has been hard throughout these years. I've seen many doctors, tried lots of different meds and taken every test available. I first saw Dr. Liow in 2009. He diagnosed my epilepsy correctly and answered my questions that no other doctor could answer. My seizures are a challenge and Dr. Liow is there to help me fight it. At my appointments, he is kind, helpful and listens to what I have to say. Dr. Liow and his staff always makes me feel comfortable whether it's just an appointment or a test. I got a Vagus Nerve Stimulator implanted in 2014. Dr. Liow suggested the device to me. It would help decrease the amount of seizures I've had & it sure has. I thank Dr. Liow for that. I trust him! Everyone at Hawaii Pacific Neuroscience is great. I've had the pleasure to work with Kelly, Michelle, Gabriel (EEG), and the wonderful staff of the Clinical Research Department.

I wanted to write this review to help anyone trying to research and provide their loved one with quality care. I myself am a Nurse and tried to do all the research I could to make sure my other half was going to receive the best care possible from what Hawaii has to provide. Our experience at Hawaii Pacific Neuroscience says it all for itself... Upon scheduling a 4 day VEEG, we were given instructions on what to plan for and when to be there, basic instructions, mainly about billing... We were told to be there are 6 am to check- in and then shortly after the Monitor would be placed on for the remaining 4 days. Being an off Island resident we had to make sure all our plans were in order and in check. So prior to arriving to our appointment, about a week in advance I call to confirm appointment, and we are told that check in has moved up to 8 am and not 6 am, which we were perfectly fine with. Upon arrival to check in at 8 am we were told just to "take a seat, and someone will be… right with you" an hour an a half goes by and nothing or nobody says anything, at this point we ask what is going on, and they say that they are short staffed at the moment and are getting ready it should only be 10 minutes. So we wait... another hour or so goes by and finally once the stomach wouldn't stop grumbling I asked when we would be getting checked in because we at this point have missed breakfast and lunch. At this time it is 12pm and decide they will let us sit in the room that would be our stay for 4 days and tell us the monitor will be placed on shortly. Another hour goes by and the Monitor finally gets placed on at 1 pm 5 hours after our appointment was scheduled. We were told that Dr. Liow would be coming by once a day to go over what he has observed and go from there.. He only came in for 5 minutes the whole 4 days, had 2 or so other doctors come in for him, with no knowledge of why the patient was there, or what he was receiving the VEEG for. We were also told that Dr. Liow would be there the final day to go over results for the 4 days, but that did not happen at all, we never even saw him, just scheduled for a follow up a month later. Very disappointing. During our stay we had gotten locked out of their office 3 times, 2 of the times were a significant length that made me question as a nurse the job quality of the techs working there, how could they not know a patient was gone for over and hour, even multiple hours while they are actively checked in to their facility? Their buzzer system had broken 2 1/2 out of the 4 days there, which made their system faulty. Resulting in the multiple hour long lockouts at 10pm during a Sleep Study. There were no emergency numbers to call, or any one to contact when getting locked out, even the security guard for the hospital right next door is no help at all, we asked and they had nothing to provide except for "pound on the front door" which we did multiple times but to no avail, it did not help. On another note, most doctors are for the patient, willing to help the patient and make it as easy as possible for both doctor and patient. We requested that he give us a call to discuss the 4 day VEEG Results with us before scheduling a follow up (why would we fly over and spend all that time and money to be told your OK GO HOME) so we politely asked multiple people multiple times to have him give us a call to say hey your all good, don't need to come back, or your not all good come and talk to me, I wont waste your time. But, Dr. Liow and his staff are not even capable of doing that. So save your time, and find a more reliable, caring Doctor. fyi Tech Gabe was awesome!

My experience at Hawaii Pacific Neuroscience under the care of Dr. Liow has truly embraced the feeling of aloha. I have experienced kindness, consideration, empathy, superior medical care and expertise during my entire stay.

I really appreciate Dr. Liow's attitude towards me as a patient. He is caring, and I can tell he is searching out the best form of treatment for me. Even as I was waiting for my appointment, another patient was sharing how much she appreciated Liow and how she felt so much more cared for as opposed to her previous neurologist.

Dr. Kore Liow knows his stuff when it comes to epilepsy. Through his advice, medications and medical treatment, I have gone from monthly seizure episodes, to NONE so far. The office atmosphere is great... nice office girls, and other specialists who are cool too! Hawaii Pacific Neuroscience is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED by me!

Dr. Liow has been my neurologist since late 2015. I find him to be very professional and thorough. I like him very much; at the hospital bedside or in his private office. He has been very helpful to my life and survival. He will continue to be my neurologist into the future. He is located near my home at Castle Medical Center. Sincerely and respectfully, Robin L. I've been seeing him, and he has been kind to me. I feel that he cares about me by asking questions as to how I've been doing and encouraging how I can improve on what to do to make my condition better.

The staff is friendly,sweet and accommodating!!!! Dr Liow explained everything to me and I didn't feel rushed! I need to do a week study and I know I will be in good hands bc GODs hands will be with him ???? Thank you
