Dr. Kristen Annika Ekman, MD

Karen installed my IUD so poorly I'll need surgery to remove it. The installation of an IUD is something that's standard care around the world. She'll keep being paid by the Cleveland Clinic, and she'll keep harming women.

For this type of doctor that tends to deal with very intimate and vulnerable situations, she is quite abrasive, unsympathetic, disregarding and somewhat arrogant. Unfortunately I went to her for years for annuals, contraception, and genetic history of cancer. I could NEVER imagine dealing with her uncaring nature during pregnancy and especially labor/delivery. She's definitely type of doctor to tell just to "suck it up" and insensible to the fact that every woman is different physically and mentally.

I was sent to Dr. Ekman by my GP after she noticed something irregular during my Well Woman Exam & PAP. She sent a note to Ekman about my months of constant heavy bleeding as well as the abnormality she thought she saw. Ekman hadn't even read the note when I went to her and had to "go back in" to re-look at my cervix after I asked her if she had seen what my GP saw. Even after doing this, Ekman told me that I "totally" didn't have cancer. She misdiagnosed me with Menorrhagia (heavy periods) and told me to come back in 6 months. When I returned to my GP a few months later with severe lower back pain, she tried to send me back to Ekman for an emergency visit, but Ekman was unavailable. THANKFULLY. I went, instead, to a real doctor without a God complex who was able to see the tumor on my cervix with her naked eye during my exam. I am lucky to be alive, no thanks at all to Ekman. Sadly, I know two other women with very similar stories. This woman is a monster. I constantly caution women… to avoid her at all costs.

Dr. Ekman is fantastic. As other reviewers have described, she takes your concerns seriously, she never makes you feel that you are wasting her time, she spends a lot of time with each patient, she answers all questions thoroughly, and she is very down to earth. Yes, you will wait from time to time to see her, but I feel that this is warranted since she is giving another patient her undivided attention, just as she will to YOU when she sees you. Beyond Dr. Ekman, the entire practice is professional and amazing, especially Helen in the front office and Elise and Karen, the two nurses with whom I have had the most contact. They will always return your calls, treat your concerns with urgency, and follow through when necessary. The ultrasound technicians are also very good, and Dr. Saleh in Maternal Fetal Medicine (across the hall) is excellent as well. I cannot recommend this practice enough. I went through 3 other OBs I was dissatisfied with in the past 12 years, and I finally found a… doctor and a practice to stick with!

Best OB I've ever seen. Drive 30 minutes to see her. Love her personality and she is very knowledgeable.

I have been a patient of Dr Eckman's for almost three years. I have appreciated her being thorough during my appointments and always taking time to answer my questions without making me feel hurried. I do wait sometimes but she is an OB/GYN so that is sometimes expected. I am now pregnant with my first child and I have grown to like Dr Eckman even more. She makes me feel like she has plenty of time to see me and is always thorough in her explanations. She also makes sure I understand any information she is providing. I also like that she shares her experiences she had when she was pregnant with her children. You may wait once in a while to see the doctor but it is worth it.

I really like Dr. Ekman, but I am tired of waiting over 90 minutes (last three visits in a row) to see her. I understand that in that profession, medical emergencies happen and labor is their primary concern, but I waited for over 90 minutes for a nurse to come in and tell me she wasn't there and she could answer any questions I had. I didn't take a half day off work to talk to a nurse, and all it would have taken was to tell me that she was out of the office and to reschedule. This last appointment, I waited 97 minutes to see the doctor. I really like the bedside manner of Dr. Ekman, but I am ready to change because it is so incredibly inconvenient.

Dr. Ekman is amazing! I am someone who has a horrible anxiety problem so going to the doctor takes a lot for me! I was pregnant with my daughter & decided upon going to her. She was fabulous. She was very sweet, always addressed me professionally with a hand shake, always listened to everything i had to say & she always knew how to make me feel comfortable! I love that she isn't one of those doctors that use really big words that we are unable to even understand. She explained everything to me in detail every time she explained anything to me. Yes, she is quick but that is because she has so many patients to tend to, which i understand. Overall i am so happy i went to her and i will continue to go to her in the future. :)

I have been a patient of Dr. Ekman's for about 5 years. She is a great Dr! She is very professional, yet makes you feel very comfortable and makes sure you understand exactly what is going on with your body. Weather it be an annual exam or a surgical procedure, I completely trust her and appreciate her bed side manner.

I've been very impressed with Dr. Ekman's knowledge and personality. She is very upbeat and is working with me for a difficult case / diagnosis. However, for a visit for "pain down there", it took over a week for me to be scheduled. I did not have the option of seeing another doctor which was also very frustrating.Her staff is very abrupt, and I have always had a long wait. (The worst of any of my doctors). One time they "forgot" that I was there. Regardless, she is an impressive doctor and worth the time and aggrivation to see her.
