Dr. Kristie A Chiscano, MD

I WENT TO SAN ANTONIO FOR A 2ND OPINION AND WAS GIVEN DR. CHISCANO NAME. IF I STAYED IN THE PANHANDLE OF TEXAS I WOULD HAVE HAD MAJOR SURGERY AND A LONG MIDLINE INCISION. DR. CHISCANO AGREED I NEEDED TO HAVE MY LARGE,FLAT POLYP TAKEN OUT AND SHE SCHEDULED SURGERY BUT SHE WOULD USE LAPAROSCOPY. SHE REPEATED THE COLONOSCOPY BEFORE SHE PROCEEDED WITH SURGERY AND WAS ABLE TO REMOVE MY POLYP THAT WAY AND SURGERY WAS CANCELLED. BY GOING TO HER MY OUTCOME WAS LIKE NITE AND DAY. I THANK GOD FOR HER EXPERTISE AND MY SEEKING A SECOND OPINION.

I met Dr. K. Chiscano while I was at LifeCare recovering from my second round of surgeries. She was recommended to me by a doctor there to provide a 2nd opinion on my situation. I wanted another opinion on my condition as I was told that I would be released soon to go home. I had been on steriods which mask pain and other issues one might normally feel if they are not really o.k. This LifeCare doctor said that Dr. Chiscano had been an exceptional surgeon for his family's medical needs and strongly recommended that I consult with her. She had "rights" to the facility and came to see me right away. It was a Sunday. She immediately had tests run and found that (unlike what others had told me)I was not healing ~ but rather was septic. Without her care, knowledge and rapid response I would not have survived the situation. I have never met anyone who I felt cared more about me (although she did not know me when we met) or offered me better care than this surgeon. She took over and corrected… a potentially fatal situation caused by another surgeon. I had a lengthy hospital stay ~ a total of 5 months. From the moment she became my surgeon, she consulted/visited with me EVERY DAY that I was hospitalized. When I returned to LifeCare, she followed me there and continued to be the "medical lead" on my situation and still came to see me daily. Something quite atypical for most doctors/surgeons in the medical field. She is incredible and anyone who needs a truly gifted, knowledgeable, always accessible surgeon should enlist the skills of Dr. Chiscano. I know that without her, I would not be writing this review today.

I am not happy with the way she treated my daughter she has basically refused to treat her due to her not being able to comply with some of her orders and she also does not want me to be involved in my daughters care because my daughter is over 18 even though my daughter wants me involved, she keeps saying she needs to be responsible for her own self she doesn't want to talk to me and I feel that that is rudeness.
