Dr. Kristin Anne Skinner, MD

I am a transgender patient who went to Dr. Skinner for a consult for chest reconstruction surgery. Her bedside manner was poor. Her staff misgendered me, and she was not sensitive to issues of body dysphoria at all. I understood she would need to look at my chest, of course, but she poked and prodded way more than was necessary, she commented on my body in triggering ways, and she had 2 interns present with her to watch, as I was partially undressed (I would have liked the opportunity to have consented to having an audience). She and her staff could benefit from some trans-related training.

Very impressed with her knowledge. Very upfront and professional. Overall, I left my appt. feeling very positive, having all of my questions answered. She was highly recommended by doctors in Albany and Boston.

Although Dr. Skinner is chief of surgical oncology, I found her surprisingly uninformed about the latest surgical techniques in breast cancer surgery or perhaps inept at performing them. She is cold in her manner toward patients and not very helpful.
