Dr. Kristina D Money, MD

I am my 84-year-old mother’s POA and primary caregiver. Mom had been a patient of Dr. Money for several months when her condition declined to the point that I needed to petition the court for guardianship. When I approached her office about completing a State of Maryland certification form, they seemed hesitant; ostensibly as this form was lengthy. I offered to pay her for her time as I was sure it would be time-consuming. When the guardianship case became contested by a family member – which meant Dr. Money would have to appear in court - my attorney’s office contacted her to coordinate a day that she could appear along with mom’s primary doctor. It was then that my attorney and I got the shock of our lives! Dr. Money left voicemail and email stating she was “pressure[d] by family” into certifying mom as incompetent and she would not support her certificate or testify – even if threatened with jail time. You heard right.. she would rather go to jail than do her duty as a Medical… Doctor. The great mystery in this is why she would respond this way? The end result of this is we had to withdraw the case as mom will no longer allow another mental health professional to evaluate her. Maryland requires two certificates and two testimonies if the case is contested. Many months and many thousands of dollars in legal fees invested in trying to protect mom from herself with nothing to show for it. Stay away…

Irresponsible with patient’s time and aloof to the matters. Was texting during video call. I often had to repeat myself as show was distracted by her screen.

Dr Money and her staff have abandoned my mother., age 86 with dementia. Apparently since my mother didn't need Dr Money's help for approximately 2 years, my mother is considered a new patient. Now that my mother needs psychiatric help once again, none of the Psychiatrists at this office are taking new Medicare patients. So we are out of luck. They never offered the number of another doctor, in fact the only number they could give me was a number to a Maryland Psychiatric Referral Line. When I called that line a recording came on that said, "the number you are trying to reach is not accepting calls at this time." Great! It's shocking to me that a mental health doctor would abandon a patient, who desperately needs their help just because they haven't been there in two years. It's my opinion that they have devised a way to recategorize patients who have not been there for a couple years so they no longer have to see these medicare patients who have a low reimbursement rate associated with… their office visits. I understand the frustration associated with the low reimbursement rates with medicare patients as my husband is a doctor, but we don't abandon the medicare generation!

Absolutely terrible from top to bottom. Unprofessional isn't even the word to describe this woman and her staff. Will cancel your appointment, not inform you she canceled, then charge you a no show fee.

Dr. Money really put me at ease even though I was anxious. She really listened to my concerns and answered all of my questions. I felt like I was well informed about my diagnosis and treatment options. I had a question the day after my first visit and Dr. Money gave me a call back that day and spent additional time addressing my medication question. I highly recommend her.

Saw Dr. Money one time, she was flippant, discourteous and incompetent. That's the good news. The bad news is her staff are just plain rude. I called and cancelled my follow up appointment due to family emergency, it cost nearly $300 out of pocket and I was treated like some kind of nutcase. Getting an appointment there is like pulling teeth, and always takes about a month. If you require a lot of interaction with your provider, you could be in real trouble here. Avoid like the plague.

Dr. Money discontinued services for me after I expressed concern about emerging agitation perhaps due to the medications being inappropriate. She told me that I was receiving gold standard treatment and my agitation was purely behavioral. She resented the fact that I came to the appointment prepared with daily symptom charts. Due to the abrupt termination of services, I was left with no psychiatrist two days after my discharge from a month-long hospitalization. This is poor medicine.

I have nothing but positive things to say. Out of all of Psychiatrists I have ever met Dr. Money was the most professional and proficient. She does not waste time and seems to know exactly how to get right to the problem. I spent the least amount of time during an appointment with her but I got the most out of it.
