Dr. Kristy Lynn Matala, PhD

Would give no stars if that was an option. Stay away from this provider, especially if DSS is involved. She will only make findings for the further involvement of DSS and foals to truly do full forensic evaluations. We were told she is reimbursed by the UNC Beacon program, yet they stated she is not reimbursed by them. Her tactics falls in line with DSS and includes misrepresentation in her findings as well as rewriting her interviews that insinuate evidence. She will twist the words of families in a way that works to the advantage of DSS rather than uncover truth. She failed to uncover the online sexual abuse our son was experiencing. After fighting threats to get a court order, we pulled our sons out of DSS therapy, despite our fears. Less than two weeks in private therapy, our son, 17 years old at the time, was able to open up and share his experience. Our case was quickly dismissed after our findings, and no accountability given to all those involved in our DSS process for pushing… their narrative rather than the truth. She is not about truth or keeping families together. She is paid to side with DSS and is aware of civil rights violations against families. She will put forth zero effort to find truth. Tried to file a complaint with the UNC beacon program and were told she does NOT work under them.

I am assuming that the 5 start review was from Kristy herself. I refuse to call her a Doctor. Much like the 2 other reviews, Kristy Matala turned my life upside down. I've contacted the board and apparently either no one has made any complaints against her or she apparently beats them all. I am going to be extremely cautious about what I type here because I will be going to a higher level against Kristy and I am hoping that others who have commented here will do the same. Kristy does not care about the Child. She is a paid monkey for whatever DSS County you are in. So beware that whatever they say about you will be her exact words. This is easy money for her and she will make sure that she pleases DSS. I could write a novel about the corruptness I've faced between her and DSS but I'd rather not. As stated in one of the other reviews the expert I hired debunked what she said about me. Kristy Matala has an agenda and it is to procure money in her pockets, not protect the children of… North Carolina. All of Kristy's cases should be reviewed. She is the biggest danger to children in North Carolina.

If I could actually give zero Stars to this I would. Much like another review on here, I was also a victim of Dr. Matala's testing being used against my boyfriend and I in regards to my children in a DSS matter. The testing that she performed on both of us was simple enough yet I still don't understand how she could come up with some of the so-called recommendations by the questions and things she made us do. Person County DSS intimidated us into a CFE, a CME, and so-called parental competency exams which my own therapist said was just a psychological evaluation. We both feel as if we have been judged unfairly and that things have been edited to meet the needs of DSS. I find this to be particularly true when it comes to the evaluations of my boyfriend because most of the report was verbatim from what one of the supervisors at DSS had said prior to the testing. If the words had been different maybe I wouldn't be so curious but it was pretty much spot on and that particular social worker… has been gunning for the both of us since this all began. My advice to anyone out there facing a situation is not to use any provider recommended by the department of Social services. Go and find your own providers that have no connection to them. In our case all the providers we have worked with that are not connected to DSS have had nothing but positive things to say but the ones that are in DSS's back pocket have all the negative things to say. Please please if you feel like your evaluations are even off in the slightest seek another opinion even if you have to pay for it yourself. My boyfriend and I will be seeking another provider to redo the testing. Beware beware beware Dr. Matala does not do things legitimately it's all skewed for the department of Social services.

Dr Matala is a paid shill for NC DSS Departments. DSS agencies across NC force parents into CME, CFE, parenting evaluations and Psych Evaluations with Dr Matala. Dr Matala will twist anything a parent or child says in an interview with her in order to destroy the parent. Dr Matala did just that in my own case. Dr Matala is called in by DSS agencies in any case across NC that DSS needs her to fudge the facts due to improper Removals. Dr Matala will deny a parent the right to record their own interview! Luckily I had outside Psych doctors and therapists who squashed Matala's bogus report and thus I won my case. Beware of Dr Matala
