Dr. Kristyn Poncy Menendez, MD

In 2008 Menendez saved my sons life, she monitored me closely gave steroid shots to mature his lungs at 33 weeks he was born weighing 2lbs 15oz small but strong thanks to her. Im now 36 weeks and I could not imagine going to anyone else, she's happy to answer any questions and explain things that I don't understand. I have no problem putting my life and unborn child's life in her hands. The absolute best wouldn't go anywhere else

Dr. Menendez was my first time ever visiting a Gynecologist. Very little was explained to me. She noted that I was small down there, but still insisted on using the larger instruments. This obviously was painful. I ended up having an anxiety attack and to try to get me to calm down, they threatened to admit me to the hospital if I didn't calm down soon. Her statement was "I have other patients to deal with. I don't have time for this." I will never forget that comment. That made me feel like I was merely a paycheck for her. I was told to go on medication and I did. During the follow up visit, I could hear the doctor and nurse laughing outside my door before coming in, while they described my symptoms. I ended up having major side effects to my medication beyond the normal effects one might expect with such medication. I was told "You have to toughen up or go off it because there is nothing else we can do for you." Up until this statement was made, there had been no medical tests beyond… a routine gynecological physical. I decided to stay on the medication with her advice. Within two months, I was in the hospital almost weekly. My family decided to try another doctor and asked Dr. Menendez to both write a referral and to release my records. She claimed there was nothing wrong with me and refused to do either. We had to go to the Board of Directors to get her to complete our request. I ended up getting a referral to Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. My new doctor at Mayo started reading my medical forms and reviewing them with me. There ended up being so many corrections needed that he set them down and just started over. For example, the medication I had been put on was not only the least tolerable of the possible options, but the recommended dosage was higher than what I should have received. After my experience, I watched three of my friends go through the same negative process with Dr. Menendez. They all had to find specialists just to get help they needed. One miscarriage happened because Dr. Menendez misdiagnosed the due date. The baby died and was already rotting when it was finally delivered. The other was due to Dr. Menendez not being sure how to properly manage a mother with diabetes. This doctor is one of the reasons I have higher anxiety levels when I go in for my yearly checkup. I would never recommend them.
