Dr. Kurt Miller Chambless, MD

I had my shoulder surgery when he was at sports medicine group. My shoulder to this day feels wonderful. I wanted to have the other one done and now I realize that he is back. I am 69 and hope my age is not a factor but I would not let anyone esle but him do it. He was great.

His interaction with patients was terrible. He and his staff was also sullen and down beat. He also acted as though your questions were of no value. I only went to him because I knew he could not operate on me and my visits would lead toward physical therapy. I learned more from my physical therapist than him. I could not recommend him or his staff.

Dr. Chambless is a fabulous surgeon. I have been his patient due to another surgeon miscommunicating knee problems after a surgery. Dr. Chambless was very thorough in going over my history with each visit. I feel he is very qualified and knowledgeable about knee surgeries. He is not surgery happy. He trained on the ski slopes in Colorado where he saw and treated many terrible knee injuries. My friend had her knee totally blown and he did a fabulous job on reattaching all the torn tendons and ligaments.

It has been 12 painful years since right shoulder surgery. I cam to doc for treatment of "sting" on right tricep and general r shoulder pain. After some hands-on MRI revealed to Dr. C a "piece of floating cartilage". Surgery scheduled during which no floating cartilage was found but Dr. C told my wife while I was still under that your 40-year-old husband "has the shoulder of a 60 year old". Funny, at the time I saw Dr. C I was in an intense exercise class involving among other things up to 500 pushups a session in which I'd recently set the class record for pushups in a minute (85). I was in top shape, outside of the shoulder pain. Dr. C, while I was still under decided to... not sure of the correct spelling... "debride", "debreave"? my shoulder... basically "chopping the bone" to make it "bleed" creating "bone spurs" to give "cushion" so as to get me ready down the road (as I was too young to push for it then) "s shoulder replacement when I got older". Huh? To make this long… story short, I'm right shoulder crippled, in pretty much constant pain, have been ridered on my insurance for arthritis. Thank you Dr. C. Oh... and about a year after this destruction I sent those pre-surgery-MRI results to a orthopedic doctor with an NFL football team who asked "did anyone ever tell you that you seperated your shoulder"... uh... NO! And... "I've seen much worse shoulders than this, looks like you simply needed some rest". Huh? Thank you DR. C. This forum was a long time coming.

He has no bedside manner...he acted like I was in his way and he was better than me...did not explain the surgery that he was going to do...he never one time touched my shoulder, arm in other words he did not do any hands on examination. He never one time smiled at me..his staff seemed like they were miserable working there. I could go on and on but all I will say is that I will never go back to him.
