Dr. Kurt Richard Washburn, MD

Neurology Alzheimer's consultation with Dr. Washburn for a family member. Most honest, sincere neurologist we have had an evaluation within three years. Wish we knew about him years - even months ago to help us prevent decline of the disease. Answered all questions about future care, treatment and had recommendations for mental exercises that would help. If you have a relative with mental decline, don't delay. There are treatments today that can slow down the progress of Alzheimer's disease but only if you can pass the cognitive requirements mandated by insurance.

Dr. Washburn has helped me with migraines for 15+ years now. He also helped my 2 children into adulthood when they moved away from home. I'll soon be moving myself and not looking forward to finding a new doctor based on the experiences I hear from my children. I have valued Dr. Washburn's professionalism and attention to my needs and his care for my family. He always updates me on new treatments to try to help with my headaches. Even now years later he still asks how my children are doing. I also appreciate his staff. Everyone knows my name and make me feel welcome at every visit. He will be missed when I move!

Dr. Washburn was very thorough in my initial appointment. He first went through all my symptoms, and listened carefully to all of my concerns. He was taking thorough notes the whole time. He then ran an exam, and provided the likely diagnosis. He did order an MRI and EEG just to be on the safe side. He made me feel comfortable and heard. I honestly don’t understand these negative reviews! I’m glad I didn’t listen to them, that’s for sure, because I would have missed seeing a great doctor.

Terrible experience. I had to wait 6 months and he wrote me off the minute I opened my mouth. I have been sick for so long. I was so frustrated I burst into tears and he didn't bat an eye. But it looks like he's used to making patients cry, so that makes sense now. Why be a doctor when you don't care?

Inattentive , uncaring, disrespectful , inept, COLD , a definition of a disgrace to medicine , a creator of hopelessness and despair , is a representation of a machine practicing inaccurate negligent medicine, overlooking symptoms and using his position of power to make an ill person feel like they want to waste his time . He needs to be reminded of the reasons why he choose to be in the medical field , go back to the oath he swore to do no harm . This practitioner has it coming for him , perhaps one day he will be the victim of an uncaring cruel care giver , that will tell him he is a crying WOLF. I feel sorry for his soul . He va needs to learn a lesson.

I was familiar with Dr Washburn at his previous practice. I had to follow him, despite staff warning me otherwise, when my provider went to another location that didn't accept my insurance when MNAs closed. Dr Washburn doesn't want to be bothered with questions on new treatments, is unaware of many in the pipeline, and yelled at me for asking if one may be helpful. I sat and stared, after trying multiple times to establish some way to communicate with this man to cover my complex care. He actually told me he wouldn't treat a CNS complication of an autoimmune illness, just headaches. Again, I sat and stared because that's why I've needed a neurologist for 20 years. He wants a quick in and out, no tests for new symptoms, not even basic neuro checks. Just shut up and get your same refills of meds that don't work and you may escape his wrath, at the expense of your health. I pity the staff his ego is so big, but his "expertise" doesn't match his high opinion of himself. He believes… everyone is an idiot and lying. I've overheard his interactions with others, so this isn't an angry review. It's just an honest one. Go elsewhere. Your life could depend on it.

This man should not be allowed to practice medicine. He lacks in all empathy and compassion. He’s ego is such that he refuses and resents referrals to other physicians, much less other hospital systems. His narrow minded neuro practice solely relies on one clinical expertise of migraines, although, he states having knowledge of all neurological disorders. He’s self-righteous attitude towards his patients is horrific...insinuations of pharmacological dependencies by his patients, when there is no evidence to support. I’ve heard him refer to his patients comparing them to Hollywood starlets. Recently, heard of him “withholding refills on prescription medication because of his office moving, transfer of tax ID number, and records being transferred to his new office.” He should be reported to the board of medicine, as well as insurance providers. He is a detriment to the health profession. Shame on him!

I have seen Dr. Washburn for over 5 years for a serious neuromuscular disease. I was shocked to read all the negative comments. Then I remembered that my initial impression was not positive and then he was neg active when My wife once accompanied me. I think he has difficulty with social relations and that is why some patients found him rude and uncnaring. I have developed excellent rapport with him, and it did perhaps take a while and I was working at. He got me through a medical crisis one weekend while he was on call, not my doctor, and that saved me a trip to them ER and perhaps more. I am very grateful for his competence and caring. Now I find him very knowledgeable, attentive, interested, caring, thorough. I would say I have As much rapport with him as. Any other doctor I have had, @nd I have had scores. Maybe think of him as “good Doctor “ give him little slack, and work at developing an easy relationship. I now find him tops.

I have been to over a dozen drs for my trigeminal neuralgia - including neurosurgeons, neurologists, primary care physicians & operated on by the doctor who created the single most successful surgery for my condition, I’ve had 4 brain surgeries & been seen in 4 different states for doctors & under the care of Duke. I’m not even 30. Im writing this to say, I’m definitely not naive to different doctor styles & am really sensitive to bedside manner. I don’t know what everyone is talking about, Dr. Washburn is a brilliant doctor - he couldn’t offer me any new solutions than what I’ve already done, however, he sat with me for a half & hour bouncing different ideas around & giving advice. He listened to me & never once spoke over me or acted like I wasn’t knowledgeable in my own condition. He listened to my ideas,concerns & never once made me feel infurior. I highly recommend this Dr. & again, I’ve seen plenty of doctors to know a good one.
