Dr Kurtus A Dafford, MD

Terrible person, first appointment spent 80% of time talking about how he despises his surgeon wife who is stepping out on him. Then diagnosed me with sacroiliac dysfunction but then got distracted and said I have flat back. Sent me for a vertical xray and said I did not stand up straight and thinks I need hip replacements to correct this. I have been to a minimum of 15 hip replacement surgeons and none will operate because I have no arthritis in my hips, they do not operate on adults with hip deformity. I even spoke with one of the three hip guys Dafford gave me and he said the usual, he only does replacements when the hips are arthritic. I had an appointment with Dafford months after the second one and I received no reminder call and found that my appointment was canceled on the day of after waiting months. I went to him for sacrilliac dysfunction, was diagnosed by him with it and others and almost a year later have accomplished nothing except to get worse older. Stay away… from this lousy, selfish surgeon.

After meeting with 3 other Neurosurgeons for treatment, Dr Dafford was the only one who explained why I needed surgery and exactly what was going to be done in terms I can understand.

My brother was a patient of Dr. Dafford, but because he is deceased and I was his sister and caretaker, I am writing this review. Dr. Dafford performed his spinal surgery. My negative review of Dr. Dafford is not regarding his surgical expertise, but is pertinent to the doctor-patient relationship; specifically in this case, Dr. Dafford was not truthful. What was egregious about the experience with Dr. Dafford was that he recommended that my brother be admitted to the Spaulding Rehabilitation Center and promised that he would advocate for that placement, but apparently he never did. In addition, Dr. Dafford's last day at the practice was the day of our follow-up appointment. That appointment lasted an hour and yet he never told us that he was leaving the practice. I only discovered that he had left when I called his office the next week to inquire about the Spaulding placement. The office told me that he had left for a position at B+W, Boston. In addition, they said that his notes… showed no indication that he had ever made any inquiries to Spaulding. We left a message for Dr. Dafford, but he never returned our call. My brother was devastated. I found this deception and patient abandonment to be unprofessional and shocking. For me, Dr. Dafford's actions characterize a doctor that I would never feel confident about.
