Dr. Kyoko Okamura, MD

I can't say anything about the doctor, because when I have the problem, I was unable to get an appointment with her. When I scheduled a appointment, it was postponed to another day without anyone telling me about it. The second time I came for an appointment, but they told me that my visit was not on that day, but on some other day 2 weeks later, although the letter from them indicated the time and date of the day when I came to them and no I never received any other letter.Nobody wants to solve the problem, the staff turns around and leaves. Terrible management. I waited in pain for 2 weeks, but today my appointment was rescheduled again. Managers don't send reminders. How important it is for a woman to solve her pain problem in a short time, and not wait 2 weeks and it's not a fact that you'll see a doctor. They will schedule an appointment for you and you will never know until they call you and tell you that you missed your appointment. Complete mess.

She probably deals with younger women for the most part. I am 70 and was referred to her. She has been absolutely what I prefer in a doctor. She is so gentle and kind. There is a delicacy that I appreciate at this point that helps one relax. As an experienced nurse, I can judge that she knows her field. The office is conveniently situativ and the staff are responsive too.

After spending an hour waiting for my first visit with Dr. Okamura, she spent a total of 14 minutes with me. Her manner was professional but impersonal. When I indicated some of my needs, she assumed a total lack of medical knowledge on my part, and a lack of knowledge about my own body.Very disappointed -- plan to find another gynecologist ASAP. Plan to cancel the first visit involving a procedure.And get this for impersonal-- for results of Pap smears, you call a phone number at a lab, indicate your "code number" -- and a third party tells you whether it's necessary to call your physician for further information. Nothing like adding another link in the medical chain of information to create inaccuracies and poor care....

Dr. Okamura is so nice and caring. I have had bleeding issues and was literally scrambling to find a GYN after my PCP scared me about the bleeding. I was so lucky to find Dr. Okamura. I ended up needing a procedure in the O.R. which Dr. Okamura performed and talked me through everything before and after. She even called me a couple of times after the procedure to make sure I was feeling okay. Since then I have had additional issues with bleeding and Dr. O is very prompt and caring every step of the way. I actually feel fortunate that I had the GYN issues and it gave me a chance to meet Dr. Okamura, because I cannot imagine anyone else caring for me during future pregnancies. I would recommend Dr. Okamura, more than anything, for her bedside manor and it's perfect mix with professionalism and knowledge, but also for the ease of getting into the office in Brookline and the kindess of her entire staff.
