Dr. Kyung Wha So, PhD

During one of the most challenging times in my life, following a sudden divorce after many years of marriage, I sought help from Dr. So. I was in shock, struggling with anxiety attacks and trauma. Through her counseling, she helped me rediscover a positive outlook on life and supported me in regaining my mental health. Nearly three years have passed, and I’ve begun to reclaim my routine. I even returned to school in my 50s, successfully completing half of my program while balancing work responsibilities. I am deeply grateful for Dr. So's unwavering support and guidance—it wouldn’t have been possible without her!

I have done counseling with Dr.Kyung for about 2 years and it has been great. I had great anxiety and felt depressed when I first came to her and I didn’t know how to navigate through life but she helped me understand what anxiety is and how I can combat my anxiety. I learned more about what type of person I am and how that affects the way I perceive myself, the world, and my life experiences. I have grown a lot and was able to process through and share the last 2 years of my life with Dr. Kyung. I felt comfortable enough to share my life with her without feeling judged or uncomfortable. She is straightforward with her words and will say what she needs to, which I appreciate and like because I can get comfort from my friends but Dr. Kyung pushed me to grow and learn while supporting me. She got to know me and knew how and when to push and pull with her advice and counseling which I found to be a good balance.I am no longer in therapy because of the progress I have made in being able to… manage my anxiety, but whenever I might need therapy, I will always go back to her.

I had counseling sessions with Dr. Kyung Seo in 2014 and 2022. It was a beautiful journey to find the true me, and I grew up to be a mature person. I've been anxious all my life and never felt safe sharing my feelings, which has caused misunderstandings in relationships around me. Dr. Seo was supportive and professional, and I felt connected to her without fear of judgment. She assured my emotions, and we practiced communicating and setting boundaries. Her practical advice was also valuable, on top of empathy and encouragement. As I grew up and became comfortable, positive changes occurred around me. I didn't expect it to get this much better. I was lucky to have Dr. Seo as my counselor, and I appreciate what she has done for me.

I have been visiting Dr. Kyung for the past two years. She is professional to reduce my anxiety and always provided suggestions to solve my concerns. I also appreciate her reachability, e.g. she is willing to arrange extra meetings with me whenever I feel very down. Thank you Dr. Kyung!

I begun to see Dr.So in person prior to the pandemic and luckily continued to see her on a weekly basis through video calls. If it weren’t for our weekly meetings, I am not sure I would be as mentally and emotionally strong as I am today. Dr. So has helped me develop healthy habits in my life that lessen the stress and turmoil I experience in school, work, and my relationships. She has especially helped me navigate issues in my relationships, helping me see different perspectives and identify patterns in my relationships. Her insight has made a world of difference in the way I now engage people in my life. She is incredibly generous with her time and advice and only has her patient’s bests interests in mind. I highly recommend seeing Dr. So if you are looking for someone who can help you get yourself out of a rut. Just remember that therapy is a two-way street, and Dr. So can only help you if you are committed to helping yourself.

Dr. So has a very balanced and holistic approach to therapy and her methods were exactly what I needed. She always asked the right questions to root-cause my day-to-day issues, and started treating me that tied aspects of physical health to my mental health. As a result of treatment, I've established a healthy routine, lost nearly 10 pounds in excess weight, and have a much healthier outlook on work-life balance as well as interpersonal relationships. I learned that real change requires both validation of your feelings AS WELL AS a reality check. Dr. So gets straight to the point and is not afraid to call you out when your feelings don't match reality. I HIGHLY recommend Dr. So for anyone ready to make change in their lives.

As if humiliating me and making me feel absolutely horrible about myself wasn't enough, this woman violated HIPAA and told my parents our whole conversation in an exaggerated manner even though I was over 18 at the time and did not give consent to reveal anything. I would have sued her if I had the means to do so. The worst mistake of my life is choosing someone like this for my first counseling experience, and it absolutely ruined me and my family.

I have enjoyed seeing Dr. So for several months. She is a kind and inspiring person. She always brings a smile to my face.
