Dr. Ladd Spiegel, MD

Ladd Spiegel has been my psychiatrist for over 4 years, and there's a reason I haven't sought out a different psychiatrist. Dr. Spiegel is caring, incredibly well-educated, and incredibly professional. He works with patients in a way few psychiatrists do, with a tendency to be very cautious writing prescriptions - especially for medications that can be addictive or have serious side effects. He is always incredibly easy to reach - even via text message - to reschedule, let you know he's running a bit late, etc. I see him as the person in this world who knows me on a deeper level than anybody else, which I'm sure is due to the length of time I've been with him and his incredible manner of listening so thoroughly. Ladd gets to know you as a person, not just a patient, and is always interested in knowing your hobbies, hearing about what you've been up to at school / work, how your personal relationships have been going, and anything else you feel is important to you. Don't go to Dr.… Spiegel if you're just looking to get a prescription for something and feel you don't need psychotherapy. He's really both a psychologist and psychiatrist, with most patients returning once every week or 2 weeks (versus just once a month for a refill), and is always kind, comforting, and overall just a warm person to talk to. In regards to medication, Dr. Spiegel has been around the block with so much experience that he really is the person to trust when making decisions - he will never try to push you onto a medication without good reason, which usually is only done when asking for an addictive controlled substance that he feels could do more harm than good and feels an appropriate alternative would be best for your stability and problems.
