Dr. Ladislau Albert, MD

My spouse had an appointment with Dr. Ladislau Albert Jr., MD just a few days ago. We were referred to the Neurosurgery and Spine Consultants (Dr. Zavala II, MD for his amazing work with Spinal Surgery with fellow co-workers), assuming that would be the same case for Dr. Albert (related business doctor). We were VERY WRONG. Dr. Albert spent less than 5 minutes with my husband (I was in the room as well); confirmed that my husband had 2 herniated disks and Surgery is needed; however he refused to schedule and complete surgery on him. WHY you may ask? Not because of health conditions, as no high blood pressure; no heart problems; no diabetes; no cholesterol; nothing internally wrong; but just because you are fat. Yes, we were told, because he is fat and needs to lose at least 100lbs before consideration of surgery, by him. My husband is 6ft1, a little over 300lbs and unable to walk, stand or even sit in a chair due to the severe pain. When asked what is he suppose to do to lose weight in… this situation; because he can't sit stand, barely walk and when standing/walking he is so hunched over from pain and about to fall, plus the neuropathy in his leg doesn't help; Dr. Albert said "I answered that already and left." (less than 5 minutes meeting with him.) Both my husband are professionals in the banking industry with insurance. He spoke to us as if we are useless and a waste of his time. When his nurse came in, saying we are good to go; I made a complaint and requested if the other doctor could come in; she apologized and said he is not available; and has multiple appointments (we understood) and she said she can Dr. Albert come back in. He did come back for 2 minutes and upset that we had questions. Questions regarding what steps to take as my spouse can't walk, sit, stand etc. The answer again was lose weight; even though that will not correct the herniated disks in his lumbar. When asked, how is my spouse to be able to do any of this, when he can't work due to the pain and medication he is already on for this. Dr. Albert responded with I answered that and had my nurse provide you a pain management doctor from more meds; and for work I can write you a doctor's note that you can't work for 2 weeks (like you would a child). We advised our employer has forms (additional forms to provide to work; outside of the ones that have been provided regarding the multiple disk herniation) that would need to be completed he advised he does not fill out any forms for patients and left. He is a rude and weight discriminating doctor. If you are not at perfect weight, meaning anything over average weight he will not do anything regardless of the optimal and perfect health outside this. Don't waste your own time or finances to deal with this horrible person that happens to be a medical professional. People like him should not be in the medical field interacting with individuals. I recommend if you were referred to this doctor find another one; or schedule with Dr. Zavala. NEVER DR. Albert. The experience was so unprofessional we have already reported him to the medical boards; and reviewed other people's review on other sites and they have indicated the same.
