Dr. Lalith Maximus Tissera, MD

When I first met him he seemed to act like he should be on a throne like he was king. I am prescribed medicine that without I can have seizures. So I put up with him because getting a new doctor is hard. He then told me suddenly when I met him after about 6 months that he was abruptly just stopping my insurance with no notice and said he would not leave me with any refills. I asked him why would you do that I e done nothing wrong? He told me to take it up with my insurance company because he did not like the way they spoke to him!? I said are you serious? And he kind of smirked like he enjoyed being in such control and said yes talk to them. I told him that was insane and then he informed me he would not leave me any refills and no time to even find another doctor which is illegal for a doctor to do. So I’m calling the board of health and they said he’s been complained about many times and there looking into his situation. He’s a total nut case and should take his degree back to his… own country as we Americans do not treat patients like this here. I hope he gets what he deserves.

Dr. Tissera is great. I think its if you go in and be honest, he is very caring and I finally feel heard and comfortable enough to just say it like it is. I dont mean to, but when drs make suggestions, I'm like well and I poo poo about it and know I am not going to follow through. Dr. Tissera said something to me, in such a gentle manner, that my response was "ok." I told my mother, I'm going to do exactly what he said and she too is so happy. she was so pleased when I told her I said "ok" to him. his suggestion is exactly what she wants for me, it's rare these days when you leave a doctors appointment and feel better and have hope. if you want help, see Dr. Tissera and be honest. he is great. in no way, shape or form is he a pill pusher. I have read reviews that have said that and that was not my experience. I for once in years upon years, feel some hope to get a little better and isn't that what we all want. the staff are very pleasant also.

I had my 3rd visit with Dr. Dr. Tissera. he was very interested in hearing me out and took the time to ask relevant questions. I felt comfortable enough to start to open up. my last psychiatrist stopped practicing medicine, due to a health issue and it was very hard for me to switch doctors, after 27 yrs. especially under the circumstances. I think Dr. Tissera genuinely cares and does have real desire to take an interest in your overall health and mental well being. you can absolutely go in and be open with Dr. Tissera and not feel embarrassed or judged. highly recommend. I am happy I found my way to Dr. Tissera.

I have been a patient of Dr Tissera for over a year and I have had excellent service.

His attitude is condescending and arrogant. He runs more than 1/2 hour late, almost always. When I asked if there was simply a better time of day for me to schedule appointments so that I would not be late for my other commitments, he got angry and told me to find another doctor. No apology. No empathy.

Very professional office. I was searching for weeks but no one was taking on new patients. This office sets aside certain hours daily for new patients to be seen. There is no wait. I was lost on my first visit and probably called 4 times but the staff was very nice and got me there without a hint of irritation. I have been at this office for 6 months now and I not only receive a phone reminder but a text and email about my appointments. The office is very efficient and always able to squeeze me in at the last moment. They have add on times every hour that you are able to sit and wait between scheduled patients if you miss an appointment, which I have done twice. Best office and staff! Glad I found them.

I like Dr Tissera..he doesn't coddle or lecture. He asks how your feeling, taking mx, need any ,thats it. To me thats the sign of a professional.He's the best I've gone to in a while.

When I first started seeing this provider, things were okay. I would go in, he would hand me my prescriptions, and then I would leave. I know that is all that would happen because he is not someone that gives counseling. As time went by, appointments would be harder to get and I would end up running out of medication before I could see him. The service got worse and worse. When you call the office, if you do not take the first appointment that is offered to you, they give you a hard time. When I did go for an appointment, I would barely get into his office before he gave me my prescriptions and sent me on my way. The last straw was recently. I called to make an appointment and was told that my insurance now required referrals and prior authorizations before I could see the doctor. I thought this was strange because I do know about my insurance requirements and I had never needed these in the past. After trying to get the referral and prior auth for two weeks from my PCP, I… finally called my insurance company and they told me that I did not need either. Dr. Tissera's office did not believe me and I actually had to have someone from my insurance company call the office. After that, I still could not get an appointment for awhile. I ran out of my medications. I asked to leave a message for Dr. Tissera to call me back. I received a phone call 4 days later from the office manager telling me that Dr. Tissera does not call patients and if I did not like the service, I could find somewhere else to go. I was calling to try and get a refill on my prescriptions just to hold me over until I could see the Dr. He will not do this. You have to pay for the office visit or you do not get the prescriptions, even though it was a one time thing. That is what I get after seeing this provider for over 4 years. I am in the process of filing a complaint. Thank goodness my PCP has written me the prescriptions until I can find a new psychiatrist.
