Dr. Lance David Holtry, DO

I was suddenly confined to the computer 24/7 after lifelong, strenuous sports, thanks to jumpstarting a now popular photo app innovation. Stress and lack of motion turned my right leg and lower back into a tingling, numb log. Numerous doctors false diagnosed me with spinal stenosis and listesis. A painful nerve conduction study, and several MRIs later, everything looked A OK, but I still could barely walk. Fast forward 12 months, I was randomly assigned to Dr. Lance D Holtry. Despite his jam packed schedule, he patiently listened to my medical record ramble. Unlike the orthopaedic, sports, and neurologic specialists, he immediately picked up my Piriformis Syndrome, recalling crucial details from his medical studies. After a failed "knee-jerk" and a simple stretch test, it was clear that my Piriformis muscle, which runs across the buttocks, had become so chronically contracted, that it was squeezing the life out of my Sciatic nerve. Bam! That's all I needed to hear. Gone were my worries… about resuming strenuous exercise in fear of grinding down my bones. I wrapped up my weakened knee and ran the mountains for 4 hours, followed by "Short-Piriformis" stretching and intense, deep tissue massages. That night, I propped myself up high on the bedside, feet dangling freely. I knocked below my left (good) knee. My leg swung up as expected. I knocked on my right knee. My leg swung up. I couldn't believe it, so I did it again, and again. After nearly 18 months of struggle with seemingly irreversible damage, Dr. Lance Holtry brought me back to high physical and mental performance. His bullseye diagnosis and sharp attention after his long hours on a Friday afternoon are rare qualities, that eliminated months of uncertain referrals, negative results, and poor life quality within days. I highly recommend Dr. Holtry to anyone, who is looking for a trustworthy primary physician.

Dr. Holtry has the most poor bedside manner I have ever dealt with. I would recommend finding any other dr.

Dr Holtry always has lots of time to talk through everything, to ensure everything is understood and to ensure all questions are asked and answered.

I went to Dr. Holtry for a few years when I first moved to El Dorado Hills. Overall as a person, he is a nice man. However, being a nice man doesn't necessarily make a good doctor. His knowledge of medical issues to be minimal at best. When asking him questions, 4 out of 5 times he has to refer to his iPad and look up the answer on the internet. This applies to both medical issues and medication. If he didn't have his iPad with him or if the internet connection was down, it is my opinion he would have little to offer on a medical basis. Also, his staff is not very professional regarding sensitive issues. One time I had a STD issue and the receptionist made me reveal my concern in front of a full waiting room of people were everyone could hear with no discretion whatsoever. Extremely unprofessional. Overall horrible practice - find someone else.
