My child's low iron test results were missed by this office, and Dr. Slaymaker diagnosed my daughter Failure to Thrive without ever telling her father and mother. We went to his office frequently for weight checks and to a nutritionist as referred. The day we were moving, Dr. Slaymaker recommended many tests (after telling us over and over again that we didn't need to put her through testing but that we should stop nursing). This sudden panel of tests he referred us for resulting in our being denied insurance upon moving. Fortunately, our new doctor worked hard to get us reinstated and was an amazing communicator, but that doesn't change the fact that our daughter struggled to grow due to low iron. We didn't realize this until it was quickly corrected in our next child by a short term prescription iron supplement. The symptoms were so similar that I checked our firstborn's records and that is how I found out that our daughters iron levels were dangerously low when she fell off the… weight curve. When I contacted Dr. Slaymaker to tell him of the mistake, he treated me as hostile and never apologized.

I brought my baby into the urgent care clinic, I also had my toddler with me. We waited for the Doc for over an hour, who helped us was Dr. Slaymaker, after waiting an hour, sick baby was tired & not feeling well, toddler was antsy and ready to go. In the middle of our exam, he takes a personal phone call and speaks w/ a friend in front of us for over 3 minutes. It was very unprofessional & very disappointing, especially for my children who were ready to go already!

Dr. Slaymaker has a calming effect on my children. His exams are thorough. His staff is wonderfull. He takes time to ask and answer all questions.
