Dr. Lanning Kline, MD

I had the same experience coming to the clinic, but the specialist isn't there! with the virtual visit (eye doctor!!!) examine you over laptop while he is in (what seems like) his living room. I was asked to remove my face mask, even tough it was still COVID. If that wasn't enough, there is no summary that I can use with my next provider, because I can't imagine wasting time or money here. I expected a better service from UCSD

This is not a review for the physician's medical care, which I never received, and this is why: In attempting to be seen by Dr. Kline, I was instructed that first, I'd need to be seen by a different doctor in the network (in what seemed to be a gatekeeper situation). Sure, fine. Appointment # 1: I waited for almost two hours to be seen and the appointment was nothing more than a formality (seemingly a way for the network to make more money); but at least now I had an appointment with Dr. Kline on the books for more than three months later (soonest possible for Dr. Kline). Appointment # 2: When I arrived at my appointment, the medical technician informed me that my appointment would be virtual, and that Dr. Kline would communicate with me through the computer while another doctor did any physical examining. It's one thing to schedule a virtual visit, but another to have patients go in for what is expected to be an in-person visit and not receive in-person care from the physician… directly. Several misleading texts were sent leading up to the appointment saying, "Dr. Kline is looking forward to seeing you," "Dr. Kline is looking forward to discussing your care." Nothing indicating a virtual visit. Physicians were literally carrying a laptop with Dr. Kline on the other end from room to room. On my way out I informed the medical technician I felt misled and was no longer interested in pursuing care through this clinic. Advice to prospective or current patients: ask questions and trust yourself. If it doesn't feel right, it probably isn't.

I did not need the work after all, but it was a joy to be in good hands.

Always loved our experiences with Dr. Kline. So good with our son Joshua when he was a young man and had brain surgery. Josh really liked him. For bedside manner wish I could give him a 10.
