Dr. Larry Hammond Killebrew, MD

I had and have had a terrible pain in my side for over a year. The first doctor I saw for it said that he believed it was a pulled muscle and that it takes a long time for a muscle to heal. Well, that was over a year ago. Last Saturday night I was in so much pain, I had to go to the ER. The ER doctor did a CAT scan and told us that I had a hernia and that I needed to see a surgeon. So I asked around and Dr. Killebrew's name came up. I looked at the reviews and saw where many people were satisfied with their experience with Dr. Killebrew, so I made an appointment. I explained my pain to Dr. Killebrew, he did a very brief physical exam, looked at the CAT scan and said that he thought I should have an ultrasound of my kidney which I did. I asked the technician that did the ultrasound how soon the scan results would get to Dr. Killebrew and she said that "he will have them in the morning". I called his office at 9:00 a.m. and the receptionist said that he would call me that day. … He did not. I called again today and a recording picked up, so I left a message as to who I was and because I was in so much pain, could they please call me with the results as soon as possible. Later, I got a phone call from the receptionist (not the physician whose opinions and advice I paid for) who told me that I had a cyst on my left kidney. That cyst has been there for years and years ago my urologist told me that I didn't need to worry about it. So I asked her "so what does Dr. Killebrew suggest I do next"? She said he didn't tell her what he advised me to do next, but, she said "I suggest you go to your general practitioner". I said "why, Dr. Killebrew is a specialist and certainly would have more knowledge about these things than a general practitioner". She said that's what I suggest. Well I don't pay the receptionist to give me her advice or suggestions, that's what I paid Dr. Killebrew for. So when I called my husband to tell him what was said, he tried calling the office and got a recording saying that they were gone until Tuesday, because of Monday being a holiday. So, I guess my extreme pain didn't concern Dr. Killebrew . Unfortunately, I have had multiple major surgeries and have had some really terrible experiences with the medical field. It was only because of the severe pain that I even entertained seeing another doctor. I'm not saying that all of my experiences were bad, but most of them were (doctors and nurses). I am actually seeing someone to try to get over this phobia of anything to do with medical treatment that I have developed because of them. So this was a big decision for me and my husband had to really urge me to go. With the pain as bad as it is, the decision was actually made for me. I can't say how disappointed I am that yet another doctor has let me down. I remember the days when the doctor called the patient himself to discuss the results of a test, or sometimes they called you into their office to discuss the results and where we should go from here. So here I am, in terrible pain, not knowing any ore than I did when I went to the ER and do not have a clue where to go from here. Also, because it is a holiday weekend, I have no choice to wait until Tuesday to try to get an appointment with someone else.. No, I definitely would not recommend Dr. Killebrew to anyone. It's too bad, I had such high hopes.

The most understanding and knowledgeable doctor I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. I have an extremely complicated and somewhat uncommon case yet he knew so much about it upon my first meeting him. I was truly shocked and very impressed. An unforgettable doctor.

He is a great doctor and surgeon. He took great care of me during a very emergent case. I recommend him to everyone..
