Dr. Larry Otto Sanders, MD

Terrible experience. Do not take an adolescent to him. There were very damaging things said during appointments and a total lack of empathy for the patient. He was also rude and lacked decorum expected in the mental health world.

Brusque, poor listener. Front office assistant difficult to deal with.

It has been so nice to have a doctor that comes along side me, listen to me and work to really try to get my mind/body balanced. He is intelligent but trusts his patients word. I have not found this type of care in the psychiatric field until I found him.

When I first saw Dr. Sanders, I was at a very dark place. Dr. Sanders was able to help me to dig myself out this hole, and get back to a very good place. His help has been priceless. Yes, he doesn't give reminder calls, sometimes his appointments run over and he's late, and he doesn't work Fridays. This does not matter to me. He is the best.

This man is one of the most empathetic and dynamic medical professionals that I have had the privileged of knowing. His extensive experience with patients and conditions, combined with his sincere sympathy, flexibility and concern, allowed him to construct a very successful treatment plan for me - something that three previous psychiatrists failed to accomplish. I am deeply grateful for Dr. Sander's care, and am enjoying the return to good mental health that only Dr. Sanders could facilitate.

He is often on vacation. His secretary is the one you will correspond with and by the time he gets your message it is all wrong. He needs to call us back and discuss our issue. His secretary has no medical background. His appts. are 15 minutes for med. management and anyone needing therapy will be given a referral to someone else!

After first visit I felt hopeful. But on subsequent visits he seemed uninterested in me as a patient or as a person even and he forgot what he had told me and what we discussed during previous visits. I had to remind him what we talked about. He'd flip through his notes and write but now I wonder if he was doing something else during our session! In the end, I never went back as it was a total waste of time, money, and energy and he did not help me.

Larry was condescending not only to me but my spouse as well.He took calls many times in my session, would not adjust the bill for his time on the phone against what he charged per session.He interacted with my spouse more than myself.We tried hard to work with Larry, But their just to many negative issues here to continue a relationship with him.Last but not least, When we requested medical records Larry was rude and defensive to us and demanded that we pay over $100.00 for a copy of the records.

I was referred to Dr. Sanders by my PCP with the recommendation that he was excellent at working with dual diagnosis patients such as me and that his expertise was in combining medications well so that one medication wouldn't interfere with the working of another. This was one of my concerns and I was very hopeful and eager to get some help with this. Unfortunately Dr. Sanders had his own policies that I found particularly difficult to work with. One is that he refused to have his secretary call with reminder calls before the appointments that were made many weeks ahead. Not one of my doctor, dentist, or children's doctors doesnt call to remind, much less refuse to make a reminder call. It is especially important in the case of ADD due to the many disorderly traits that accompany the disease, of which I was coming to him for treatment. Along with refusing to call for reminders despite my many requests for them to please help me with, they also charge full rates for missed… appointments, no compromises there. I found this intolerable and decided to not set myself up for failure with this situation and therefore quit seeing him. He also had a rather unprofessional manner in that he took phone calls during our session. I felt that he had ADD and that maybe that was why he was so intolerant of my ADD. Who knows? I was not pleased.
