Dr. Laura Brown Doan, MD

After being a patient for years I thought she was a bit strange with bedside manner but this didn't really affect me until I went to my scheduled pregnancy visit 2 weeks from my due date and she said I needed to go to the hospital because I didn't have enough fluid. They were going to induce the next day which was fine. Well, she didn't show up so another doctor on call who I had never met had to come into deliver my baby. Well thank goodness she did! Its was Dr. Cobbinah and she is amazing! The baby wasn't getting enough oxygen so we had to do a C section which I actually preferred. Easy peasy! I know doctors are busy so I expected to see Dr. Doan while in the hospital for 4 days, but she never came to see me. While making the comment to my husband, the nurse on duty says to us "Well, I've seen her here every day this week so I'm not sure why she didn't come in. I'm sorry". When you have been a patient for 10 plus years you would think she might come in to ask how I'm doing and to… say congratulations. Nope. Not once. I've never been back, and Dr. Cobinnah is my gynecologist still today.

I agree with all of the concerns about bedside manner. Did not feel supported during my delivery and had no idea what I was supposed to be doing. I believe her lack of support and lack of willingness to listen to my concerns led to an unnecessary C section. She also left me with a new nurse while I was pushing even though the nurse made it very obvious that she did not feel comfortable being left alone with me. I wish I would have listened to my instincts and switched doctors before delivery.

I had to see this provider to get a kolp procedure (a cervical biopsy that is the next step after receiving an hpv-positive pap). She was flat-out rude to me. She was severely upset about the fact that I vape (nicotine-free) CBD oil, and lectured me on the "dangers" of "anything [I] put in [my] lungs" despite clearly admitting beforehand that she knew nothing about vaping or CBD oil. It was something she was visibly hung up over because it took her a good 10 minutes to realize that I was just there for a kolp and not her judgement about my breathing habits. It was very unprofessional - what or if I vape is a conversation for me to have with my regular physician, a conversation that I'd already had and my physician had no issue with it. Then, on top of that, she offered me very little information or warning on the procedure I was about to receive. My best friend, who'd experienced the procedure before and had come with me, was more help. And it seemed like this physician chose to be… lazy because my friend had experienced the procedure. It was a terrible experience that left me in tears. The worst part of getting a positive pap was seeing this horrible woman!

I have been a patient of hers for several years. She is very caring and cautious when it comes to your health with an awesome bedside manner!! Treats you as a person and not a number. Sometimes will call you personally on the weekend, on her own time, to give you test results. I spent 5 days in the hospital recently and she came in everyday to check on and visit with me. Wonderful Lady, Wonderful Doctor!!

I have been a patient of Dr. Doan for about 12 years. She has always been very professional..... but....even more than that she has been very personal. She has always gone above and beyond to be sure I have had all my questions answered. She takes the time to get to know you on a 1:1 basis. I would highly recommend her to anyone. SHE IS THE BEST. Her personal approach is incredible.

I disagree with the person who said Dr. Doan is anti-fat-people. I'm overweight and the tests performed throughout my pregnancy were not overzealous. I had ZERO stress tests done. I did get my blood drawn often, but I was anemic. -- She does have an awkward bedside manner, but she's a very caring Dr. I had a traumatic delivery and ended up having an emergency C-Section. Dr. Doan checked up on me several times throughout my hospital stay. She held my new daughter in the nursery and appeared genuinely excited for us. -- I would recommend Dr. Doan!

If you are overweight and pregnant.. she will force you to have non-stress tests every 2 days.. for most of pregnancy. You have to do it, you're not a doctor and you want your baby to be healthy, but when the techs are looking at the dr. that ordered the test and sighing... that's a sign that she over does it. (nice insurance scam Doan). Also... don't get induced if she has a flight to catch.. she'll break your water when you are dilated to a 3 and then force a c-section. Please... pass me off to a doctor who doesn't have vacation plans... she couldn't miss that payoff for delivery. You made me not want to be pregnant ever again... Witch Dr.

I have been an on and off patient for quite a few years. Although I agree with the kind of rushed bedside manner, I do feel like she is cautious and thorough in her treatment. Definitely did not feel like my concerns were blown off.

She is a really good dr, but her bedside manner is a little brusque, which is why I didn't really like her a lot in the beginning. At 8 months pregnant I fell down the stairs and she was extremely thorough in making sure my baby was OK. Later, after having some significant health problems that two internal medicine doctors poo-pooed and said were simply what came with being a new parent, I finally have been receiving treatment and am feeling much better.
