Dr. Laura Cristina Espinosa, MD

I am recovering in the hospital following an exploratory laparotomy and removal of right ovary and both tubes due to an ovarian mass. I have an 8 inch incision across my entire pelvic region. My first day in the hospital was horrible. My night nurse would not help me get any relief from my pain and I literally sobbed for 3 hours straight, begging for medication. I have had several surgeries and know what works for my pain control and what doesn’t. I called the main hospital line after getting no help from my nurse and Dr. Espinosa came up. She stood there with her hands on her hips while I was hysterically crying about the pain I had and how I haven’t had relief (they just kept pushing my meds back and wouldn’t get on any schedule) and she said “well you know, you aren’t the only patient in the hospital! There are people on the heart floor with heart problems and people dying from car accidents” I said “I am not trying to get the whole hospital to come and check on me! I literally just… need relief. I know my body and know what works and I don’t understand how someone with human decency, let alone a doctor, can see their patient sob for 3 hours straight and do nothing about it!” She was seriously the most condescending and in compassionate doctor I have ever encountered. I never leave reviews like this but I couldn’t not say anything. It felt like a nightmare and the pain I was in was worse than any pain I’ve ever had. Praise the Lord an amazing doctor came in while she was standing over me and said she was so sorry, that I had a major surgery, and they had gotten me behind on pain meds. She ordered a pain pump, upped my other meds, and switched nurses for me and my hospital stay has been amazing since then!

This was a terrible apt. I was shocked to find this woman so condescending , and short with me. This was a simple BP apt. As we just moved to the area. I wanted to remind her that I was able to choose my Physians and I will not be choosing her. Her mind was not on her job. Just a warning! I'm sorry it did not work out . Did find a great doctor two days later.
