Dr. Laura Elena Sanchez, MD

In my opinion I was egregiously misdiagnosed and prescribed a cocktail of medications, one of which being synthroid at a dosage that was completely inappropriate. I further did not have thyroid condition. When I did express true concern backed by an endocrinologist’s expertise, I was removed from Dr sanchez’ practice

I saw Dr. Sanchez over a five year period. In that time, she was consistently unprepared for appointments, unable to find my lab work results, unable to remember what she had prescribed me or why, mixing me up with family members she was also treating at the time, even unable to remember the diagnosis she herself gave me. Frequently, I would ask for a prescription refill and she would call in another drug prescribed to one of my family members. My first regimen with her was a drug that even she admitted was off-label for my condition, and made me miserable and exhausted, and which I later learned when I searched her in public disclosures record was a drug whose manufacturer had paid her thousands of dollars that year to be a “consultant.” I suffered the worst depression of my life not before seeing her, but after side effects from a drug she prescribed—again, off label—endangered my health to the point where I had to discontinue immediately. This from a doctor who would be ten minutes… late to phone appointments, during which she would be audibly eating while talking. I’m lucky to have found better, more skilled, and more empathetic care, but I will never get back the time (or money, as Dr. Sanchez charged several hundred dollars, with no insurance accepted, per appointment) I sank into these bought-and-paid-for “treatments.”

I came to her with memory problems, but after 2 hrs of questionnaire she diagnosed me with depression, which I would never guess I have. Anti-depression meds literally changed my life for better. I didn't realize that that inner piece I've got, will make such difference for me in everything. Very happy with outcome.

20 minutes late, accused me of lying about getting my blood work done when she couldn't find the paperwork, forgot what she prescribed me, didn't listen to my concerns. Could have just been a bad day but I had a pretty bad experience.
