Dr. Laurel Kimberly Soot, MD

I was referred by the emergency dept. they said I needed surgery within the next week or so. I told Dr. Soot I was really sick, couldn’t keep food down, had lost 14 lbs in 10 days. She misdiagnosed me bc she didn’t listen, acted like I was a hypochondriac. She said “I’m sure you can find another dr who will operate, for the money, but I won’t ”. A terrible month later I was back in the ER. She did the surgery. She had to call in a second surgeon to help her. Instead of same day surgery it was a major ordeal with a hospital stay. When I got the pathology report I saw that she’d misdiagnosed a serious problem. I could have died. I met with her afterwards to try to understand why she couldn’t hear me when I explained how sick I was, the first time I met with her. She brought her risk manager to the appointment, didn’t acknowledge that there’d been a problem, said she’d respond the same way again. I’d give her a slightly higher rating if she’d learned from her error.
