Dr. Lawrence Carroll Ault, MD

Oct.22,2011 Dr. Ault gave me a steroid shot to ease the pain from spinal damage as a result of combat injuries in Vietnam. There was an overhead monitor to guide his injection, he ignored the monitor and just stuck the needle into my spine. HE MISSED.... he injected 120cc's of steroid directly into my bulging L-4 dis. The disc exploded and blew fragments into the nearby Caudal Equina Nerve Group, damaging the nerves. As a result I am now crippled for life. He refused to talk to me as I lost all feeling below the waist. Through his nurse (wife) he had her tell he "he was too busy to see me and I should just go to a hospital". I found a Neuro Surgeon, he did an MRI and operated the next morning. I was told I would never walk again normally, and eventually I would be in a wheel chair. Doctor Ault has the worse "private practice ratings" of any doctor in Little Rock. He was closing his private practice when the VA hired him. I believe his ratings would even be worse if his wife… wasn't submitting favorable ratings on his behalf. The man is a "menace" to any Veterans under his care. He doesn't like Veterans, and appears to believe working at the VA is beneath him. According to several VA staff Dr. Ault is well known for his "crippling of Veterans" and contempt for the VA. DO NOT LET THIS INCOMPETENT POS EVER TOUCH YOU !!!. As a result of his gross treatment I am awaiting my 3rd surgery. I had lower back pain from combat injuries. I spent 10 years as a Cowboy before I retired. I was enjoying a much deserved retirement... when Dr. Ault crippled me for life. I requested copies of all complaints filed against Dr. Ault by Veterans that he had crippled. The actual names could be redacted for their privacy. I requested the information under the FOIA. The VA refused to give me ANY COPIES OF COMPLAINTS filed against Dr. Ault stating.... "that would violate his right to privacy". As a result Dr. Ault according to those around him ...IS STILL CRIPPLING VETERANS WITH IMPUNITY. Never let this "butcher" touch you !!!

Terrible, terrible bedside manner. Didn't believe I was in actual pain.

This the first pain doctor at the VA that was actually knowledgeable and helpful in getting rid of my low back pain. He was very professional and explained things very well and easy to understand.

He was rude condesending hateful to me. Did not listen or i guess believe me when i tired to explain the pain i was experenceing. Had 3 inject only first worked. Each visit was the same and i dreaded seeing this man. My hubby came with me once to tell how our lives had changed due to the pain I was in most of the time(from first visit i never felt like he believed me)when dr ault came in the room he walked past himand sat down in a chair with his back to Jim, he never addressed him in any way. I said the man behind you is my husband Jim, he said nothing never looked at him, never offered to introduce himself, shake his hand ...nothing nothing. i tried telling him that i needed something for pain because the....he interupted me and said thats what the gabapentin was for. I said it wasnt helping me in the least. My husband tried to tell him about the awful flareups and he cut him off saying again thats what the gabapentins for. ON prior visit after telling him the the shots were not… working at all like the first one(it worked wonderfully)he said he would try burning nerves in my back to which i said no way until i get a second opinion and i wanted....he gets up and walks out of the room in the middle of my sentence. my mouth fell open and i jumped up and went out he door, he was walking down the hall, I say i wasnt through speaking to you where are you going? he turned around a just glared at me, I said you dont like me do you? he said i had an attitude. isaid do you think you dont, you have the worst attitude ive ever experinced in a dr. and that i had been in pain for a very long time and had come to him for help not to experince his condesending arrogance and apparent contempt for patients and that he might want to think about that. The last visit was the one my hubby came, when he ignored him and sat down with his back to jim and begain writing and i asked what he was writing, he said "referral thats what you wanted" handed it to me and left the room. that was my last visit. The neurosurgeon he sent me to said I was absolutely right not to let him burn nerves in my back and if i need that done it should be done by neurologist or back dr. not at a pain clinic. I would not reccomend Dr. Ault to anyone ever ever ever. Im glad to know he no longer practices.

Dr. Ault treated me at the VA hospital in Little Rock. He injected me with a steroid to ease the pain in my back.He ignored the overhead monitor and injected right into the herniated disc exploding the disc. When I called telling him I was in unbelievable pain I was told he could see me for 2 months as they were just too booked up. I was told to go to my local ER.I found a Neuro Specialist who took an MRI and operated on me the next day. As a result of Dr. Aults gross incompetence I am now crippled for life. I have to use a Walker just to get out of bed. I will also spend the remainder of my life now addicted to pain medications. I had mild pain before Dr. Ault ruined my back.The man needs to be disbarred from ever practicing medicine. He scored a 1.5 out of 5 with a POOR RATING on other Doctor rating boards. DO NOT USE THIS DOCTOR unless you want to end up like me, crippled for life at 63...right after I retired.

I was really sad when Dr. Ault closed his practice.He was always very kind and knowledgeable . I had been a patient since 1998.

Dr. Ault is a great physician who does much more than just write prescriptions. He is very "steady" and keeps his treatments stable. He works hard to control pain for his patients.
