Dr Borges is a skilled surgeon and (IMHO) nothing short of a miracle worker. I went from having excruciating pain to being able to live a normal life again.

This kind and patient doctor helped me after 10 years of chronic nerve pain . I am able to work and live again.My surgery was a god send.

BORGES MAY BE A GOOD CUTTER. BUT HE IS AN ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE, BORDERLINE UNETHICAL PROVIDER OF PATIENT FOLLOWTHROUGH. HE CHOOSES TO IGNORE THE PATIENT'S UNANSWERED QUESTIONS

My husband had an accident a week ago. After looking at his MRI, there has been concern about his spinal cord. He had a follow up with a colleague of Dr. Borges. He told my husband to take it easy. Saturday night we get a call from another colleague who informs my husband there may be blood on his spinal cord and that he is to call first thing Monday morning and get an appointment with Dr. Borges and that he was not to do ANYTHING because it could lead to serious problems. My husband called. And called. And called. After leaving several messages and being told they would call him back, he was called Wednesday and told that his file would be put on Dr. Borges' desk and after reviewing it completely would then decide if my husband was worth seeing. Mind you, my husband was told by his colleague that he was to be seen immediately! Here it is 4 days later being told he may not even be seen? He received a phone call today and said that Dr Borges would not see him and that he would be… referring him to a nurse. Really? The man sat around doing absolutely nothing all week because he was told not to until he could be seen and now you won't even see him?!?! Your colleague recommended him to you! How arrogant can you be? If it's a scheduling issue, maybe relay this to your staff to tell new patients that you aren't accepting new patients unfortunately at this time and offer to recommend someone else. Not make a guy sit around for a week scared to even hold his 20 month old daughter because he was told not to do anything until you could see him! What a jerk!

My right foot started going painfully numb 5 years ago and then my left started 4 years ago. A surgeon at Lahey recommended a fusion of my lower spine. Dr. Borges sent me to a neurologist who diagnosed that I had peripheral neuropathy which was causing some of the pain. Dr. Borges recommended against surgery. My symptoms progressed and I saw him again 2 years later, and again he confirmed that he didn't think I would be happy with the results of surgery because I was really active despite the problems in my feet and legs. # years later my symptoms progressed to the point where I could not walk and my neurologist and orthopedic surgeons did not think surgery would help. Dr. Borges saw me the next business day and had me in for a 5 hour surgery 3 days later. The surgery worked great and made it so I could walk again. My PN symptoms continue to progress, but doctor Borges' surgery keeps me walking, at least for a while!

My son had a large maxo papillary ependymoma. We were told he was the best and our experience confirmed that. He did 11 hour surgery and my son is doing great with no permanent damage. He also had the sense and humility to opt not to try to excise a small tumor forming at L1/S1. We are considering radiation for that. We had several nurses reassure us that we were in great hands. The staff had great respect for him.

Four years post-L5-S1 fusion, I have been almost totally pain free, and I have returned to running and cycling. This man gave me a new lease on life.

Dr. Borges saved my life and my mobility. He is a world class surgeon and he deserves every one of the professional accolades I see that he has earned. You should consider yourself a very fortunate person if you are blessed enough to have him as your surgeon in your time of need. I cannot speak highly enough of this brilliant and talented neurosurgeon.
