Dr. Lawrence Alan Jenkins, MD

I have been to see this Dr 3 times in the last 6 months. On the initial visit he found a anular tear at L4-L5 and recomended physical therapy. It didnt take long for me to out work the therapist so i stopped and continued excercises at home. Every 4-6 weeks id be down with pain at the site of the torn disc. Pain went into the sacrum and radiating down the nerves of the right hip and leg. Second visit tried steroid injections. Relived the pain for 3 days. At this point I sent out my MRI to 3 other doctors. The exact SAME MRI he saw. The Laser Spine institue was the first to contact me. They found a bone spur at L5, disc was still torn, and a compressed nerve. I went to Scottsdale AZ for outpatient surgery and had immediate relief from the pain at the disc. I still had some pain in the glutes, both S.I. joints and the right hip. This was diagnosed as a muscle imbalance due to compensation of over the three years with the injury. I went to the ER exactly 4 weeks after surgery with brutal… pain at the surgical incision. They saw that I had developed a seroma (fluid build up, EVERY doc said it is not uncommon after surgery) So the ER Dr. recomended I return to Dr. Jenkins to see if it needed to be drained. I only we t because the ER doc suggested so. He felt that we should wait for the steroid I was prescribed to run its course and continue physical therapy. He also ridiculed the fact that I went to the laser institute for help. I saw 10 doctors in the past year for this injury and he was one of them. I did physical therapy, steroid injections, acupuncture, decompression therapy, chiropractors, massage, dry needling, basically everything besides surgery. He did not remember me each time I came in, and speaks in a condesending tone. Saying "Id never let them touch me!" Why would you tell a patient this after the fact? It bothered me because he seemed offended I went elsewhere. Sorry, but I went to see Dr. jenkins for help and got none! I had to get a second opinion, and it worked out for me. If you dont like the doctor you are seeing or you arent seeing the results you'd like go get another opinon. Just because they might be the best in town doesnt make them "the best" for you. Its your money, your body, your life. Get the best you can get for yourself because you deserve it!
