Dr. Lawrence G Mendelowitz, MD

Dr. Mendelowitz was kind and thorough however, he did not address the reason for my visit which was perimenopause support. Instead, he pressed on through with a standard new patient information-gathering mission and pelvic exam. While I appreciate that establishment as a new patient was necessary and likely part of protocol, I felt like I was not heard when I inquired about the actual reason for my visit and I know for a fact that there are newer options available for treatment, none of which were offered to alleviate my symptoms. (Instead, I was told to keep a diary for 4-6 months and follow up.) While the staff was amazing, I will likely try to switch doctors within the system because I'm not interested in being ignored and I would like to find someone who is more up-to-date and doesn't dismiss these matters as though I should just be living with them.

Dr Larry and all his great team of Dr’s, NP’s and staff have been wonderful birthing all three of my children natural birth and all healthy today! Dr Larry’s father was my mother in law’s Gynecologist. Dr Larry has the warmest bedside manner and great sense of humor. Thanks Dr Larry

Horrible bedside manner, very unsympathetic. My wife was scheduled for an induction between her 40th and 41st week because of the size of the baby and on recommendation of her personal OBGYN. We were warned that if Dr. Mendelowitz was on duty during the scheduled induction he had a history of reversing or cancelling the appointment if they are not sufficiently past their due date. This is exactly what happened to us, on the excuse given by Dr. Mendelowitz that the hospital was full and no beds were available. While this is certainly possible, given the prior warning from my wife's OBGYN. He also interrogated my wife on why she was seeking an induction, to the point of putting her in tears. When I tried to call the doctor 5 minutes after this news was delivered via phone I was told he was "out of office". When I then told the nurse that my wife spoke with him 5 minutes prior, I was put on hold and then subsequently told that the doctor was "unavailable". Just a horrible experience.… I have no respect for a doctor that will cancel a scheduled appointment on possibly false pretenses and then refuse to speak to the patient. Avoid at all costs.

I would trust Dr. Mendelowitz with my life! He delivered my son Rey 9 years ago and I'm planning on him delivering this time around too. He is calm, kind, compassionate and extremely Intelligent. I highly recommend this Doc.

Dr. Mendelowitz is an old fashioned doctor in the best sense. He takes his time and provides a thorough examination, paying complete attention throughout the process. He is the consummate professional.

When moving into the area, I needed a new OB/GYN and I am so glad that I found Sleepy Hollow Medical Group. Dr. Mendelowitz took care of me for my third pregnancy which became difficult with some complications. Nevertheless, Dr. Mendelowitz took excellent care of me. As far as bedside manner is concerned, he even visited me in the hospital while I was on bedrest. He is compassionate, friendly and shows concern for his patients. His staff has always been super-friendly and I definitely recommend this office to any woman seeking OB/GYN care.

Not only did Dr. Mendelowitz show a lack of empathy, his medical assistant/nurse was rude and rolled her eyes when I explained my problem. I will NEVER return to this office, nor will I associate myself with any colleague of his. It's great that we have choice in this country, and I plan on finding a caring, up-to-date physician.

Unlike many obgyn docs today, Dr. Larry Mendelowitz is very thorough, takes the time to listen, and speaks to you at the conclusion of the exam. Plus, he actually pays attention during the exam.
