Dr. Lawrence Edward Stern, MD

I have been a patient at Fairfax Colon and Rectal Surgery and specifically of Dr. Lawrence Stern and his staff for the past two years and I can say that they have provided me with the most outstanding, professional and compassionate care I have ever experienced from any medical service provider. I have found Dr. Stern to be outstanding in his knowledge, attention to detail, ability to communicate and performance of Colo-rectal surgery, using the latest orthoscopic techniques in the battle to eliminate my cancer. He is very highly regarded among his peers and the other members of my team including an Oncologist/Hematologist, a Radiation Oncologist and Urologist. He came highly recommended to me and I would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone in their battle against Colo-rectal cancer. His on-site operating suite, laboratory and administrative staffs are most efficient, attentive and courteous. They do everything possible to provide the very best care in a comfortable, welcoming… environment. I am grateful to have been so fortunate. I hope this will help other patients and I recommended them to anyone without hesitation.

I was having terrible pain (in a location that I don't even discuss with my wife). Needless to say I was embarrassed. Dr. Stern was incredible. He put me at ease. He examined me and determined that I had an anal fissure. He discussed that there were two options: surgery and medicine. He drew pictures to help me understand how both worked. After the discussion, I elected to try the medicine. A month, or so, later I was better, but maybe only 50%. Dr. Stern encouraged me to continue with the treatment. After another 6 weeks, I was really about the same. We discussed that I could try the medical option for more time, or we could move on to surgery. He did not pressure me at all. I decided I wanted the surgery. This was the best choice I have made in the last decade. Within 1 week my pain was GONE!!!! It was unreal. In fact, I did not realized how bad my pain was until my family and friends were asking why I was in such a good mood. Thank you Dr. Stern - you have really changed my life for… the better. No one can understand what pain in the you know what can do until they are actually suffering. Please keep up the good work.

Dr. Stern resolved my hemorrhoid issue that I had been dealing with for many many years. He is very knowledgeable, great communication skills, and actually takes the time to listen to your history/medical issues. Unlike a previous Dr. who recommended surgery, Dr Stern recommended "banding" and I went with his expert judgement. It took just one "banding" and all my issues have been resolved!! I can't thank Dr. Stern enough for correcting the issue I had been dealing with for years!

I developed a large abscess on my right buttock and was in much pain. Being a former patient of Dr. Lawrence Stern, I telephoned his office in the morning and was cordially and empathetically greeted by his staff. I was accommodiated with an appointment to see Dr. Lawrence Stern and Dr. York by 11:15 a.m. the same morning. I spent only 5 minutes waiting in the office. Dr. Lawrence Stern and Dr. York took care of my situation right away. All of the staff and Dr.'s at this office are very efficient and professional and I would highly recommend them because of my past and present experience. Their level of service and customer care is "consistently" high.
