Dr. Layne M Hersh, MD

I was a patient of Layne Hersh for many years until something horrific occured, I had o bump the size of a zit and actually thats what it looked like but hard. Dr. Hersh watched this place on my face for about 3 years until I asked her if she was ever going to do anything about it. The day I asked that she sai "I can cut it out right now." That's the last thing you want her to do as she removed many other moles, cutting them out and left about 40 scars on my body, the last thing I wanted was her cutting on my face. I told her she could cut the top off and send it for a biopsy. A week later she calls and said she doesn't like the results and that she was going to have another lab look at it. Again another week later she calls me and said my doctor should be calling me in a day or two. This had never been the process before. My doctor contacted me within 30 mins and said I have a 9 am appointment the next day. The next day my doctor, while in his office explains to me that I have… cancer, Merkel Cell Carcinoma, a very rare cancer with no cure. They sent me immediately to an oncologist that there was no one in the valley that has any expertise to handle the matter so they decided to send me to UCSF. While all this was going on Dr Hersh was trying to set set up a mohs appointment to have one of here doctors work on me. She didn't care about me she was more worried about covering her butt. From the time I said that I wasn't doing mohs I never again heard from her. She was gone with the wind. So be very careful if you have her as you doctor.

My husband, daughter and myself have all seen Dr. Hersh on different occasions. My daughter first. Dr. Hersh's bedside was atrocious at best. She scowled the whole time and blamed me because my (2 year old) had a rash on her chin because she sleeps on a pillow at night (which is as flat as a pancake) - no joke! "A two year old doesn't need a pillow!" She never did correctly diagnose the problem. Thankfully it went away by itself. Some years later, I had to have something looked at and because she was the only one who had an opening (unless I wanted to wait a month), I thought I'd give her a second chance - horrible. She scowls the whole time and chews you out for doing something wrong or that you should've known better. Hy husband then, had to have something looked at on his face before he left on a business trip and Dr. Hersh was the only one available. As usual she frowned the whole time and scolded him for "allowing" it to happen. On top of it, she completely… misdiagnosed it. When he got home he was livid. He had to wait after his trip before he could see his own Dr. Bass, who diagnosed it properly and it was gone within a couple of days.

there isn't a high enough rating to give Dr Hersh on accuracy in diagnosing a problem or issue. Took my grandson to her and she diagnosed the issue in seconds where 3 other doctors in his home town didn't even know what the problem was and where to start.

I have been a patient of Dr. Hersh's for the last 11 years.She is very knowledgeable and openly discusses my condition and reviews all options with me. My experiences and medical treatments have been positive andI will continue to see Dr.Hersh !
