Lea Sheward, MD

Dr. Lea Sheward, MD, is a pediatric nephrologist in the Division of Nephrology at Boston Children’s Hospital and an assistant professor of pediatrics at Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine. She specializes in caring for children with kidney and urinary tract disorders, including hypertension, nephrotic syndrome, glomerulonephritis, hydronephrosis, chronic kidney disease, recurrent urinary tract infections, and electrolyte abnormalities. Dr. Sheward earned her medical degree and master’s degree in biomedical studies from Tufts University School of Medicine and completed her pediatric residency at the University of Vermont Medical Center, followed by fellowship training in pediatric nephrology at Boston Children’s Hospital. In addition to her clinical work, she has been recognized for her advocacy around food insecurity and the impact of poverty on pediatric health, and she is known for her compassionate, family-centered approach to caring …for children with complex renal conditions.
