Dr. Leah Esther Simone Hallow, PhD

I was a client of Dr. Hallow for about 2 yrs. The establishment where she worked was closed for business on 9/2019. I only come on here to say this..... Even though I know, as she has taught me DBT very well, that one should look at other people's perspectives and the facts. As I may feel that the review from the previous reviewer is slanderous, it may just as well have been that person's experince so I want to share my experience. I met Dr. Hallow that very hectic, high emotional, manicing day just by walking into that establishment (again that's been closed since 9/2019) in the year of 2016. I had tried to get into in patient at the hospital the night before and seeking help desperately. I was so freaking overwhelmed that day it was crazy and she came out to see what was going on and took me into an office and spoke with me. She was very kind and compassionate about my situation. And as a psychologist, she knew I needed immediate help. She offered to write me a letter to go back to… the hospital with to see if they would accept and she said to me,"if they do not take you in, come back and I will accept you as my client!" They didn't accept me and I took her on her offer the next day. My trust for mental health providers is not even at a bare minimum for trusting anything. I don't. So learning her as well as her learning me took some time but the fact was we both made the effort. See Dr. Hallow is very what can I say, down to earth in a sense that yes, she is human but acceptable to receive and take your fedback. I am the type of person that can pick up on unspoken things but i also am very well spoken , which I would ask questions or let a person know how I am feeling uncomfortable or if I feel a way about them. In a good way. See, she was helping me with DBT skills. And the skills teach you ways to overcome not just using your emotional mind, but to use a wise mind. She was also working on those things herself everyday because in order for you to be a good teacher, you have to l know the skill you teach very well. Meaning you have to practice it also. Just facts. So because of that we learned and grew with each other and I really began to trust her and see she was not out to hurt me but to genuinely help me. I wanted to genuinely better myself and my state of mind so I was willing to relearn these methods because they have helped me in the past. And I am grateful to have learned them with her. During close to the end of the service , my 22 yr old son passed away and then 5 months later my mom passed away. It was so helpful having these sessions with her amd experiencing the growth I had through these very difficult times. She was very supportive and genuine. I end it with this. Even though my experiences may be different than others, each individual has their own experience, connections or disconnect and perception on how something went for them. Do not just take things off face value. The place of business where Dr. Leah worked has been closed since 9/2019. To write a review about her 3 yrs later and to be so slanderizing about it to me is very weird. But then again, I do not know that persons world view and state of being so. That may hold true to them, but not to me.

Worst mental healthcare provider I've had in my life. Expected me to word vomit to her as opposed to having normal back and forth conversations, would look at me like I'm crazy when I pause naturally to leave room for conversation or comment. After being pressured into this weird dehumanizing word vomit situation for 80% of the sessions, she would spend the rest of the time telling me I'm so wrong about the issues in my life and haven't looked at the other sides of situations, had she had a natural conversation with me it would have been evident that I had considered every perspective she wmnsplained to me. She makes assumption after assumption and we all know that makes an azz out of you and me. She truly is a poor communicator. Every client who left her office prior to my appointment looked just as miserable as I by the end when they left. EVERY session I had with her, I left more uncomfortable and unhappy than when I went in. There was also an incident where she got rude and snappy… towards a coworker for calling her by her first name. She MUST be called Dr. Hallow. Doesn't seem very healthy to me to be learning how to get stable from such an insecure person that they have to use a title to put their coworkers and clients below them. I've worked with multiple mental health related professionals prior and in the 4 years since going to her some of which have been wonderful and I am extremely grateful for and others that just didn't have the right skill set for my needs as a client. I cant give Leah the same credit as the latter group. She had a direct negative impact on the very days I saw her. I had only had 4 sessions with the woman and yet I feel like I'm only scratching the surface still. I want to let any other former clients who might see this know, you are not alone in your experience and I truly hope you find a person who can support you better. To future clients please know there are so many other great options. Therapy has never been bad for me except with Leah, you are no better than me. I'm done using your dr title considering you use it to put people below you.
