Dr. Leandro Hernan Lencina, MD

I saw Dr. Lencina in an urgent care for what I was sure was strep throat. The medical assistant performed a rapid strep culture that came back negative. When Dr. Lencina told me, I informed him that I was almost certain this was Strep, since I get it so often. I asked him to perform a throat culture to send out to the lab and asked he start me on antibiotics. He was insistent that this was just a viral infection and that I don't need antibiotics. After five minutes of going through my medical history and pleading to him that I know my body and I am certain that this is a bacterial infection, he caved and wrote for antibiotics and performed a throat culture. Sure enough, a few days later the culture came back and it was POSITIVE for strep throat. End of the story....this doctor needs to learn to LISTEN to patients when they are talking to him.
