Dr. Lee P Ralph, MD

I've been a patient for over 25 years. I've referred family and friends who also agree his care is excellent. He is generous with his time, listens to concerns and is kind. He has a broad knowledge and expertise in medicine and if he cannot treat the problem, he will refer to a specialist. I cannot speak highly enough about Dr. Ralph. A great guy!

Dr. Ralph is one of the few doctors who listens. He is really working hard to help me feel better even though my case is somewhat complex. Most doctors would have given up by now or told me my problems were in my head. I have to book appointments a week in advance, but it's worth it.

Dr Ralph is unrivaled in his ability to explain the meaning of test results, the options open to me, and the pros and cons of each option, given my personal medical history. He does all of this with quiet, knowledgeable confidence, allowing me to leave his office with optimism. The specialists he has referred me to are excellent. He has earned the honor of being voted a "Best Doctor" by his peers in San Diego.

Saw Dr. Ralph in 2008 (first visit). Made two appointments for same day-- One for a general physical, one to examine a problematic back. I specifically scheduled two appointment slots with his office staff in order to insure he would have enough time for both objectives. Upon arrival, the first thing he wanted was for me to sign a waiver saying I couldn't sue him in court but would take any issues to arbitration, saying "all doctors are doing this now" (which is not true). Next he gave me a physical exam, but I never received any follow-up with the results of the labwork. Finally, when he was through with the physical, I asked if we could discuss my back. He said he had a busines to run, other patients to see, and couldn't spend any more time with me -- I would need to make another appointment for another day. When I told him I had made two appointments in order to avoid that, he told me that he needed to see me on another day so that he could bill the insurance company for a… second office visit. Needless to say, I left and did not return. Nice guy, good businessman, but not someone I'd want to count on in a pinch.
